Statewide Accountant 1

Role Description

The Arizona Department of Administration (ADOA), Division of Business and Finance (DBF), is seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented professional to serve as a Statewide Accountant 1. In this vital role, the selected candidate will function as a primary point of contact between the General Accounting Office (GAO) Central Payroll and various State agencies, boards, and commissions.

The position delivers critical functional assistance concerning the AZ360 HRM system, interprets and guides entities on statewide accounting policies and procedures, and provides essential support throughout the rigorous statewide fiscal and calendar year-end close processes.

• Executes precise data entry for payroll adjustments.
• Conducts meticulous reviews of daily supplemental payroll transactions.
• Performs comprehensive general ledger reconciliations of payroll clearing accounts.
• Actively evaluates workflows, recommending strategic process improvements.
• Updates standard work instructions and statewide accounting policies.
• Ensures compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and Governmental Accounting Standards Board (GASB) guidelines.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree with a major in accounting from an accredited college or university, OR a Bachelor's degree in a related subject with a minimum of 24 semester hours in accounting courses and an additional 18 hours in business-related courses.

Requirements

• Driver’s License Requirements (if applicable for driving as an essential function).
• All newly hired State employees must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E-Verify).
