General Statement of Job

Under limited supervision, the School Psychologist provides psychological and educational services to support students' academic learning, social-emotional development, and behavioral functioning. The role includes psychoeducational assessment, consultation, intervention, and participation in eligibility and Individualized Education Program (IEP) processes in accordance with federal, state, and district guidelines.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

1. Conducts psychoeducational evaluations , assessments, and screenings to determine student strengths, needs, and eligibility for special education or related services.

2. Interprets assessment data and prepares written psychological reports with clear recommendations for instructional and behavioral interventions.

3. Participates as a member of multidisciplinary teams in IEP meetings, eligibility determinations, reevaluations, and annual reviews .

4. Consults with teachers, administrators, parents, and support staff to develop and implement evidence-based academic, behavioral, and social-emotional interventions .

5. Provides counseling and crisis intervention services as appropriate to support student well-being.

6. Assists with behavior management plans, functional behavior assessments (FBAs), and positive behavior supports.

7. Maintains accurate, timely, and confidential student records in compliance with IDEA, FERPA, and state regulations .

8. Collaborates with district staff and community agencies to support students and families.

9. Provides professional development, consultation, and guidance to school staff regarding mental health, learning, and behavioral concerns.

10. Adheres to ethical standards and district policies related to the practice of school psychology.

Qualifications

1. South Carolina certification as a School Psychologist II or III .

2. Master's, Educational Specialist, or Doctoral degree in School Psychology .

3. Knowledge of federal and state special education laws, evaluation procedures, and best practices.

1. Strong assessment, data analysis, and report-writing skills

2. Ability to collaborate effectively with students, families, educators, and administrators

3. Knowledge of academic, behavioral, and mental health interventions

4. Effective communication and organizational skills

5. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
