Responsibilities Lead and develop a pharmacy team that provides exceptional patient care by promoting best practices and leading through change while identifying and addressing performance opportunities. Support novel program awareness, onboard newly hired pharmacy team members, and recognize colleagues for their success. Exhibit best practices when working the bench, including quarterbacking the team, providing patients with meaningful counseling, and abiding by all legal and regulatory guidelines. Direct and effective management of the pharmacy team, including overseeing bench shifts, coaching and follow-up of team members. Support safe and accurate prescription fulfillment by following pharmacy workflow procedures and utilizing safety guardrails at every workstation. Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care, coaching the team to do the same, collaborating with the patient’s total healthcare team, and resolving insurance and/or medication issues. Offer and deliver immunizations to keep patients healthy; identify, engage, and support Pharmacy Technicians to learn to immunize. Manage pharmacy inventory following inventory best practices with emphasis on protecting cold chain products. Conduct onboarding for new Technicians and Pharmacists, including training on CVS workflow and ensuring timely completion of required training and licensure. Ensure pharmacy operations are compliant with state Board of Pharmacy regulations; escalate issues as needed. Partner with the Store Manager to maintain a healthy talent pipeline and ensure cross-trained colleagues meet licensure training requirements. Oversee Staff Pharmacists and District Support Pharmacists (where applicable), manage performance, and deliver annual reviews. Maintain a flexible schedule aligned with store needs and contribute to a safe, inclusive, and engaging team dynamic; oversee the pharmacy schedule. Review business reporting for operational insights and develop action plans to improve workflow, service, patient care, and compliance. Establish a culture of safety, empowerment, and inclusion; encourage feedback and take action to address it. Maintain clinical and technical skills for evolving industry needs, including required trainings and CMEs; seek opportunities to expand knowledge to support patients. Support access to care and improve patient outcomes through pharmacist-delivered clinical care (e.g., testing and prescribing services where permitted) to enable holistic care at every step of the patient journey. Understand and comply with federal and state laws, regulations, professional standards, and CVS Health policies; ensure patient privacy and a safe, inclusive workplace. Required Qualifications Active Pharmacist License in the state where the store is located Active National Provider Identifier (NPI) Not on the DEA Excluded Parties list 1-2 years of experience as a Pharmacist Essential Functions Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends Ability to complete required training within designated timeframe Attention and Focus: Ability to concentrate on a task over a period of time Ability to pivot quickly from one task to another to meet patient and business needs Ability to confirm prescription information and label accuracy, ensuring patient safety Customer Service and Team Orientation: Actively look for ways to help people, and do so in a friendly manner Notice and understand patients’ reactions, and respond appropriately Communication Skills: Use and understand verbal and written communication to interact with patients and colleagues Active listening to understand points, ask questions appropriately, and avoid interruptions Mathematical Reasoning: Ability to use math to solve problems such as determining the total pills, days’ supply, and bottle counts Problem Resolution: Identify challenging patient or colleague interactions and choose the best course of action Physical Demands: Be mobile and remain upright for extended periods; lift, scan, bag items; reach overhead; bend and move as needed Move fingers repetitively; precise control; close visual acuity for tasks such as transcription and computer work Occasionally lift up to 20 lbs; frequently lift up to 10 lbs; sustained manual tasks Communicate clearly; receive detailed information orally Team Management and Leadership: Lead by example; delegate tasks; empower team; foster collaboration Motivate and ensure adherence to standards; address challenges with problem-solving Adaptability and accountability; coach, reinforce, provide feedback, and manage personnel as needed Any additional tasks as directed by Supervisor or Manager Preferred Qualifications Completion of the CVS Pharmacy Manager Emerging Leader (PM-EL) program 3-5 years of related work experience in a pharmacy, retail, medical, or customer service setting Ability to work in the home store and across the market to meet business needs Anticipated Weekly Hours 40 Time Type Full time Pay Range The Typical Pay Range For This Role Is $65.00 - $85.00 This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above. Benefits Our people fuel our future.
