Description

Our client, the United States' largest commercial real estate services and investment firm, has an exciting opportunity for a Building Engineer - Level 1 to join their Engineering & Technical Services team in Conroe, TX . This is a 3-month contract opportunity covering parental leave , with a possible extension and potential opportunity to convert to a full-time position .

This is an onsite position at a full industrial site with a Monday through Friday schedule of 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM , with overtime as needed. The position is on call for emergencies only . As a Building Engineer, you will monitor, maintain, and repair building systems and equipment, including mechanical, plumbing, electrical, structural, heating, cooling, and other facility systems. The position is work-order guided and requires the ability to work independently while providing reliable maintenance and customer service. This is a very physically demanding role . Candidates must be comfortable walking up and down stairs throughout the day, performing hands-on maintenance work, and going onto the roof. Full safety gear is provided, including steel-toe boots, safety glasses, hearing protection, and cut-resistant gloves .

What You'll Do

• Perform maintenance and repairs to mechanical, plumbing, structural, furniture, fire, life safety, and control systems.
• Maintain facility and building systems according to applicable standards and client requirements.
• Perform general building and grounds maintenance.
• Complete painting and general maintenance projects as assigned.
• Perform basic plumbing repairs and maintenance.
• Perform basic electrical repairs and maintenance.
• Assist with mechanical maintenance and repairs.
• Inspect building systems, including fire alarms, HVAC, and plumbing, to ensure equipment is operating properly.
• Assist with preventive maintenance programs to help ensure building machinery and systems meet or exceed their expected service life.
• Perform emergency repairs as needed.
• Follow applicable building codes, regulations, company directives, and work safety requirements.
• Follow departmental procedures for the safe storage, use, and disposal of hazardous materials.
• Maintain a clean and safe work environment.
• Support efficient operation of building systems and equipment.
• Complete assigned work orders and maintenance tasks.
• Provide professional customer service to site occupants and clients.
• Apply established maintenance principles, procedures, and techniques to complete assigned work.
• Use judgment to troubleshoot maintenance issues and determine appropriate solutions.
• Work independently while following established procedures and guidelines.
• Lead by example and model behaviors consistent with CBRE RISE values.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma, GED, or trade school diploma. A combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a diploma.
• Open to all experience levels.
• Mechanical aptitude and hands-on maintenance ability.
• Basic electrical skills.
• Basic plumbing skills.
• Ability to perform general building and grounds maintenance.
• Ability to inspect and maintain building systems, including HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
• Basic computer and tablet skills.
• Ability to communicate professionally through email and other communication methods.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to exercise judgment when troubleshooting maintenance issues.
• Ability to meet the physical requirements of the position, including standing, walking, stooping, climbing stairs/ladders, and lifting or carrying 50 lbs. or more .
• Must be comfortable working on or accessing the roof.
• Must be comfortable working in a full industrial environment.
• Ability to comply with required safety procedures and use required personal protective equipment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Trade school training.
• Forklift experience.
• HVAC experience.
• Dock door experience.
• Dock leveler experience.
• Universal CFC certification.
• Applicable maintenance licenses or certifications.
