NR‑715: Scientific Underpinnings In this course, students examine the scientific underpinnings of nursing practice with a focus on evidence‑based interventions and the relationship to global burden of disease. Learning will emphasize various research methodologies and focus on application, examination, and evaluation. Responsibilities Develop and provide students with an approved Covista syllabus that follows a template established by the local campus, and which includes the terminal course objectives. Organize, prepare, and regularly revise and update all course materials. Use appropriate technological options for online technologies and course‑related software, including websites, e‑mail, and online discussions for preparing the course and making it accessible to students. Model effective oral and written communications that engage the students, provide clarity, and improve student learning. Set clear expectations for the course by publishing course terminal objectives, assignment/examination dates, and weight the distribution of various evaluation categories. Ensure that the content and level of material included on exams correspond to the course terminal objectives. Demonstrate consistency and fairness in the preparation and grading of exams, and provide timely feedback to students. Completely other duties as assigned. Perform other duties as assigned. Comply with all policies and standards. Qualifications MSN and DNP or MSN and PhD in Nursing degree is required. Must have an active nursing license (Compact/Multi‑State RN License required). 2+ years experience teaching online graduate‑level didactic courses required (excluding precepting), teaching graduate leadership courses preferred. Illinois RN License will be required to teach all courses. Must have required subject matter expertise and outstanding written communication skills and be familiar with APA. Must have excellent motivational and instructional skills in a diverse and non‑traditional environment. Solid written skills and ability to communicate clearly and effectively in an online environment a must. Additional requirements driven by state licensing or accreditation considerations may apply. Proficient in using MS Office (Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint), WebEx/Teams (or similar platform) and Internet. Additional Information Chamberlain Visiting Professor Position - Online: In support of the pay transparency laws enacted across the country, the expected compensation rate for this position is between $715/Earned Credit Hour to $1,950/Earned Credit Hour, depending on the candidate’s education and experience. Actual pay may be adjusted based on job‑related factors permitted by law, such as type of course taught, experience and training, geographic location, licensure and certifications, market factors, departmental budgets, and responsibility.
