Registered Nurse (RN) | Behavioral Health | Acute Unit

Location: Avera Behavioral Health Center – Sioux Falls Work Shift: Rotating days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays (United States of America). Pay Range: $32.50 – $48.50 per hour, actual pay depends on experience. Position Highlights Sign‑on bonus up to $15,000. Registered Nurses with 3+ years experience receive extra benefits (e.g., every 3rd weekend, every other holiday). Acute unit: 18‑bed short‑term inpatient unit focused on safety, stabilization, and expressive therapies (art, music, fitness). Self‑scheduling program. Unit Overview The Acute Unit is a short‑term inpatient unit dedicated to patient safety and stabilization. Loan Repayment Program This RN position is eligible for Avera’s Student Loan Repayment Program. Each month Avera will make an extra payment of $167 toward your student loans, up to a maximum of $10,000. A Brief Overview Delivers nursing care by developing diagnoses, establishing objectives, defining interventions, and providing physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support. What You Will Do Review physician prescriptions and communicate the nursing care plan and pertinent information to team members. Coordinate with other healthcare providers and support patients, families, and friends with physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual care. Develop and document nursing care plans based on medical histories, examinations, and psychosocial assessments. Educate patients and families about conditions, medications, and self‑care skills. Evaluate patient care by monitoring outcomes, reviewing records, and adjusting care plans. Maintain a safe environment by following infection‑control policies, medication administration protocols, and controlled substance regulations. Chart patient care services and maintain accurate records in department systems. Assist with equipment operation, troubleshooting, preventive maintenance, and supply management. Ensure competence in nursing capabilities as outlined by leadership. Essential Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) with an active state nursing license. Minimum 1–3 years experience in a clinical environment (preferred). Ability to work the specified hours and rotating schedule. Strong communication skills, visual acuity, and effective interpersonal abilities. Commitment to reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities.
