Position Summary The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Department of Surgery, Division of Surgical Oncology is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to provide specialty medical care with the emphasis on Endocrine Surgery. This position is located in Milwaukee, WI at Froedtert Hospital. The Advanced Practice Provider (APP) works as a member of a multidisciplinary health care team who will contribute to excellence in program administration, patient care, patient safety, research, quality improvement, and teaching. Position Highlights Collaborates with interdisciplinary health care teams in diagnosis and treatment of conditions requiring surgical intervention in inpatient environment as a member of the Surgical Oncology team. Treats adult endocrine patients and pancreatic patients with both malignant and benign diseases. Writes accurate and timely progress notes, procedure notes, and/or admission and transfer orders. Order, perform, and interpret screening and diagnostic procedures and tests, and appropriately communicates and documents information. Privileged to assist and primarily perform procedures beyond core as identified by the Surgical Oncology services. Facilitates and communicates with patient, family and staff to promote continuity of care across the continuum of care. Attend required training and meets key regulatory requirements, including those of the privileging institution, CMS, and the Join Commission. Evaluates quality outcomes for the patients receiving care of this team through participation in the development of quality indicators and outcomes dashboard. Acquires information on the most current development and trends in the Physician Assistant field and/or Nurse Practitioner field, through educational programs, in-services, professional associates, and current literature. Collaborates with other consultative care teams and primary team in the management of malignant and benign diseases. Participates in preoperative and postoperative patient care. Educates patients and families on preoperative and postoperative care. Work Locations: Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital, Froedtert Cancer Center, Froedtert Menomonee Falls Hospital, Menomonee Falls Cancer Center New hire will report to the Surgical Oncology, APP Manager and Surgical Oncology Endocrine Service Line leader. Schedule Monday – Friday No call, no weekends or holidays. 1.0 FTE Salaried (exempt) Qualifications Preferred Experience: Oncology, Surgical Nursing or critical care experience of 5 years or more preferred Open to new grads with nursing experience Minimum Education Advanced Practice Nurse: Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing from a nationally accredited organization. Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA-accredited organization. Minimum Requirements Advanced Practice Nurse: Master’s Degree or higher in Nursing from a nationally accredited organization. Physician Assistant: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Physician Assistant Studies from an ARC-PA-accredited organization. Advanced Practice Nurse/ Advanced Practice Nurse Practitioner Wisconsin RN License Wisconsin Advanced Practice Nurse Prescriber License Certification Requirements: American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) DEA registration Nurse Practitioner Certification from a nationally accredited professional nursing organization Acute care nurse practitioner preferred. Will consider FNP or adult care.
