Step into a rewarding opportunity as a Special Education Teacher in a supportive kindergarten classroom focused on autism. This contract position is conveniently located near Carteret, NJ, offering a structured schedule from 8:30 am to 3:00 pm. You'll foster growth and engagement for a small group of six students, collaborating closely with two dedicated paraprofessionals.
Key Qualifications:
- Valid Special Education Teacher certification or eligibility
- Experience working with kindergarten-age students, especially those on the autism spectrum
- Strong understanding of IEP process and individualized instruction
- Excellent communication skills for partnering with families and staff
- Collaborative attitude and a proactive, patient approach in the classroom
- Ability to create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive environment
Responsibilities Include:
- Delivering personalized instruction tailored to each student’s IEP and unique strengths
- Creating and adapting lesson plans that support social, emotional, and academic development
- Utilizing evidence-based teaching strategies for students on the autism spectrum
- Managing classroom routines and positive student behavior with the support of paraprofessionals
- Monitoring student progress and maintaining documentation
- Engaging with families and interdisciplinary teams to promote student success
