Overview Joby Aviation is seeking an Aircraft Inspection Supervisor , a highly organized, passionate individual to join our quality assurance team. As the Supervisor, you will provide necessary leadership and training to the Quality Aircraft Inspection Team. The Joby Aviation team is made up of extremely talented, hardworking, proactive, and hands‑on individuals, operating in a very fast‑paced and rewarding environment. Reporting to the Senior Manager Quality Control, you will provide necessary leadership and training to the Quality Aircraft Inspection Team. The position will coordinate inspection tasks to meet the company’s schedule requirements for both Development and Production. Responsibilities Supervise Quality Aircraft Inspection Team Members, and be responsible for the overall operations in the area Lead improvement activities for quality, delivery, cost, and safety objectives and support continuous improvement through Kaizen Review and/or prepare standardized work procedures and facilitate effective communication of procedures to affected areas Develop training documents and facilitate training; assist in troubleshooting quality issues Manage manpower, including time clock management of hourly employees and control overtime Lead and function within a team environment; adapt to change Responsible for 5S activities for the assigned area Monitor performance and provide feedback Support company policies and procedures and administer requirements fairly and consistently Ensure compliance with the Joby Production System procedures and train and develop Joby Quality Inspectors on proper procedures Facilitate good communications between Production, Engineering, and other departments to establish expectations and problem resolutions Coordinate multiple tasks in a fast‑paced environment Be receptive to training and perform functions in multiple areas Implement and follow up countermeasure activities related to Production and other Operational issues Travel between Joby facilities as needed Maintain safety and address concerns immediately; ensure all safety procedures and practices are implemented and followed Complete all necessary reporting and required paperwork assigned by the Senior Manager, Quality Control Recognize and define problems, collect data, and develop conclusions Communicate effectively with others using oral and written communication skills Required FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) certificate Supervisory knowledge in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the aviation industry, or proven ability to lead people Leadership ability; influence others to perform their jobs effectively and make decisions Direct supervisory duties affecting hourly associates Knowledge of quality systems, gauging, and close tolerance measurement Read and follow work instructions, procedures, and policies General understanding and interpretation of blueprints, including tolerance requirements, key and critical characteristics General understanding of quality assurance system Solid problem‑solving skills using root cause tools Strong analytical skills; use reasoning to solve problems Perform work accurately and thoroughly Demonstrate initiative; make decisions or take actions to solve problems or reach goals Train others Use general inspection tools (calipers, micrometers, hole gauges, rulers, etc.) Adapt to change in the workplace and demonstrate flexibility with new ideas and different environments Positive attitude; support company policies; maintain high‑morale environment Energic; work at a sustained pace and produce quality work Honesty/integrity; be truthful and credible in the workplace Organized; follow systematic methods of performing tasks Work under pressure; complete tasks under stressful situations Minimum high school diploma with 10 years in a quality inspection role and an additional 5 years in a leadership/supervisory role Desired Three (3) years’ experience with aircraft assembly, mechanical assembly, or aircraft structures, and ability to use tech data and aircraft drawings, and manufacturing work instructions to perform inspections Familiar with paste/secondary bonded structure FAA Inspection Authorization (IA) rating is a plus Compensation Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $90,100 - $133,300 per year. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
