SUMMARY

The Sanitation Supervisor is responsible for leading and overseeing all sanitation activities during the overnight shift within a confections manufacturing facility. This role ensures that all equipment, production areas, and facility spaces are cleaned and sanitized in compliance with food safety standards, company policies, and regulatory requirements. The supervisor will manage a team of sanitation employees, ensuring efficiency, safety, and high-quality execution of all sanitation processes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Supervise and lead sanitation team members during the 3rd shift, including assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and providing coaching and feedback.
• Ensure all cleaning and sanitation procedures are completed according to SSOPs, GMPs, and HACCP standards.
• Verify proper cleaning of production equipment, utensils, and facility areas to meet food safety and quality standards.
• Conduct pre-operational inspections to ensure readiness for production.
• Maintain accurate sanitation records, logs, and documentation
• Train new employees in sanitation procedures, safety protocols, and proper use of chemicals and equipment
• Ensure compliance with OSHA safety standards and proper use of PPE
• Monitor chemical usage, inventory levels, and proper storage of sanitation supplies
• Collaborate with Quality and Production teams to address sanitation-related issues and continuous improvement initiatives
• Identify opportunities for process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness
• Respond to and resolve sanitation or food safety concerns in a timely manner
• Enforce company policies, procedures, and disciplinary actions when necessary

QUALIFICATIONS

• Previous supervisory or leadership experience required
• Strong knowledge of GMPs, HACCP, and food safety regulations
• Experience with sanitation chemicals, equipment, and cleaning processes
• Ability to lead, motivate, and develop a team
• Strong organizational and communication skills
• Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
• Comfortable working in wet, humid, and temperature-variable environments
• Ability to work overnight hours and occasional overtime as needed

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Associate degree or 2–5 years of sanitation experience in food manufacturing (confections preferred)

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

Direct supervision of sanitation crew, janitorial staff and additional assigned personnel (approximately 15 direct reports).

COMPUTER SKILLS

Working knowledge of Microsoft Office with proficiency in Word and Excel. Ability to learn other application software is essential to performing job tasks.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percentage and to draw and interpret bar graphs.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
