An established and expanding defense manufacturer is seeking an experienced Senior Supply Chain Manager to lead its multi-site, multi-state, enterprise-wide supply chain organization.

This leadership role is responsible for developing sourcing strategies, overseeing procurement and materials management, strengthening supplier partnerships, and ensuring operational readiness across multiple programs.

The ideal candidate will bring a strategic mindset, proven leadership experience, and a strong understanding of government contracting requirements to support continued business growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and execute supply chain strategies that align with organizational objectives, customer requirements, and long-term growth plans.
• Lead procurement, sourcing, inventory control, material planning, and supplier management functions to ensure uninterrupted production and operational excellence.
• Build and maintain strategic supplier relationships while negotiating contracts, pricing agreements, and long-term supply arrangements.
• Drive cost reduction initiatives through strategic sourcing, supplier development, process improvements, and value engineering.
• Oversee inventory planning and material availability to support production schedules while optimizing working capital.
• Identify and mitigate supply chain risks by developing contingency plans for long lead-time materials, sole-source suppliers, end-of-life components, and other critical supply challenges.
• Establish supplier performance metrics and lead initiatives that improve quality, delivery, responsiveness, and overall supplier effectiveness.
• Ensure compliance with FAR/DFARS requirements, applicable government contracting regulations, and quality standards including ISO 9001:2015 (AS9100 experience is preferred).
• Partner closely with Engineering, Operations, Program Management, Finance, and Quality to support forecasting, demand planning, and successful program execution.
• Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing supply chain team while fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Provide executive leadership with regular reporting on supplier performance, inventory health, cost savings initiatives, and supply chain risks.

• Build strong cross-functional partnerships that enhance collaboration across Engineering, Operations, Program Management, Finance, and Quality.
• Develop a high-performing supply chain organization focused on operational excellence, accountability, and professional growth.
• Maintain compliance with applicable government contracting requirements and quality standards while supporting the organization's continued expansion.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Operations, Engineering, or a related discipline is required.
• Eight or more years of progressive experience in supply chain, procurement, sourcing, or materials management within a defense or aerospace manufacturing environment.
• Demonstrated success leading supply chain strategy, organizational transformation, and process improvement initiatives.
• Proven experience negotiating complex supplier agreements and managing strategic vendor relationships.
• Strong working knowledge of ERP/MRP systems, with Costpoint experience strongly preferred.
• Experience utilizing tools such as TIQA and SiliconExpert.
• Proven ability to lead teams, influence cross-functional stakeholders, and successfully manage organizational change.
• Excellent analytical, communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
