Registered Nurse Labor and Delivery

Job Summary:

The Women's Care Unit (WCU) Registered Nurse provides comprehensive nursing care for women throughout all stages of life, from childbearing to geriatrics, including infants up to 28 days old. This role involves supervising and coordinating care with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.

Responsibilities:

• 
  Administer and manage patient care in accordance with established standards and protocols.
  
  
• 
  Supervise and coordinate nursing activities across labor, delivery, postpartum, and nursery units.
  
  
• 
  Monitor fetal and maternal health using appropriate fetal monitoring techniques.
  
  
• 
  Educate patients and families about maternal health, postpartum care, and neonatal care.
  
  
• 
  Maintain accurate documentation in the EPIC electronic health record system.
  
  
• 
  Respond promptly to emergencies and stabilize newborns as needed, following certification requirements.
  
  

Qualifications:

• 
  Current California RN licensure and valid BLS certification.
  
  
• 
  Minimum of two years recent labor and delivery, postpartum, or nursery experience.
  
  
• 
  Strong knowledge of fetal monitoring, newborn stabilization, and postpartum care.
  
  
• 
  Certification in NRP and hospital conscious sedation preferred; recertify every two years.
  
  
• 
  Experience with EPIC EHR system and familiarity with crash cart procedures.
  
  
• 
  Successfully complete onboarding certifications including ACLS, PALS, and STABLE within required timeframes.
