Job Description Summary An Infusion Nurse II is a licensed registered nurse who coordinates and provides intermediate direct patient care to patients in the home or in an alternate infusion suite, ensuring patient safety and compliance with a physician’s plan of care under structured supervision. Job Responsibilities Initiates, develops, and implements intermediate nursing plans, evaluates patient progress, administers medications, and educates patients and families. Assesses patient needs at each visit, re-evaluates status, obtains and clarifies physician orders, and informs physicians of significant changes. Provides training and mentorship to Infusion Nurse I’s to ensure safety and compliance. Conducts patient‑ and family‑centered teaching to achieve independence in therapy. Communicates effectively with clinical team, providers, patients, and families to facilitate continuity, prepares real‑time documentation, and meets billing timelines. Coordinates discharge planning and prepares summaries during care transitions. Demonstrates compliance with agency operations, policies, professional standards, and regulations. Maximizes work efficiency using computers and automation technologies. Responds promptly to patient requests and initiates emergency procedures as needed. Maintains ethical and professional conduct; follows established programs and procedures. Safeguards patient confidentiality and adheres to HIPAA regulations. Explains scope of services and financial obligations to patients. Attends required training, in‑services, and continuing education; may act as a supervisor in absence of the Supervisor or Nurse Manager. Participates in multidisciplinary team conferences and provides precepting, training, and mentoring for orientation and supervisory duties. Participates in nursing department on‑call responsibilities. Performs other related duties as directed by supervisor. Additional Duties (If Applicable) Insert PICC/Midlines per physician order. Troubleshoot/declot obstructed central line catheters. Monitor PICC/Midline status and educate patients on infection prevention and routine care. Supervisory Responsibilities No – this position does not have supervisory responsibilities. Basic Education and Experience Active and unrestricted RN license in the state of practice. Minimum of 1 year of nursing experience. Current CPR certification required. Basic Qualifications Demonstrated competency in patient care standards and infusion skills required for agency programs. Required licensure to operate a motor vehicle in the state of practice, access to a vehicle for business travel, and proof of liability insurance. Basic knowledge of computer operating systems and software applications; ability to evaluate performance and set professional growth goals. Physical Demand Requirements Lift up to 50 pounds (maximum 75 pounds); exert up to 20 pounds of force occasionally. Capabilities include walking, standing, crouching, kneeling, turning, pivoting, balancing, stooping, reaching, pushing, pulling, lifting, and carrying. Fine motor skills and visual acuity required. Occupational exposure risks include blood, body fluids, sharps, hazardous substances, and unpredictable home environments. Safety requirements: closed‑toe shoes, facemask, goggles, gown or gloves, and functioning communication device. Travel Requirements Willing to travel up to 100% of the time for business purposes. Preferred Qualifications & Interests (PQIs) Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred. 1–2 years of previous infusion nursing experience preferred. Salary and Benefits Salary to be determined by applicant's education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, with internal equity and market data in mind.
