Systems Technician III

Job Title Systems Technician III Reporting & Location Reporting to: Manufacturing Leader. Location: West Henrietta, NY. Scope of Role The Systems Technician III works with a small, highly effective team over several shifts in a cleanroom environment, assisting with alignment, assembly, and integration of subcomponents into medium to large scale systems for life science optics. This role collaborates with manufacturing engineering and quality teams to troubleshoot repairs, station issues, and system failures to meet customer‑centric success criteria of product quality, on‑time delivery, and high productivity. Essential Duties Manage and meet daily production goals, escalating issues to build plans as they arise. Support integration and characterization tests on lasers, optics, electronics, software, firmware, and sub‑assemblies. Collaborate with engineering and leadership to align on common goals. Analyze data, troubleshoot sub‑assembly and system‑level failures, and determine root cause within a reasonable timeframe. Identify and tag non‑conforming material for quality inspection. Troubleshoot station or software failures while working with engineering to devise resolution paths. Train incoming technicians on work processes and in‑house testing/tracking software. Learn multiple high‑technical product lines in the department. Education, Experience, Qualifications & Skills Minimum AS degree in a technical field; preferably optics/photonics, or equivalent of a high school diploma/GED with 3+ years in a cleanroom. If lacking a high school diploma, 4+ years in an optics or photonics field and/or 4+ years in a cleanroom environment. Basic computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Office and Excel. Strong technical aptitude, manual dexterity, and ability to learn new skills and job functions. Team‑player with integrity, commitment, and motivation to meet goals. Will standing or sitting for extended periods and lifting 15‑45 lbs as needed. Capacity to work in an ITAR‑registered facility and scheduled shift or overtime as required. Desired Traits Direct experience handling, processing, and cleaning optics. Familiarity with hand tools, power meters, oscilloscopes, optical tables, photonics mounts, mirrors, and translation stages. Experience with lasers, sub‑component assemblies, or optics. Strong technical writing and oral communication skills. Flexibility to train and work on different production lines. Benefits & Compensation Salary range: $48,000.00 – $72,000.00, depending on experience; eligible for a performance‑based bonus plan.
