The Department of Medicine at the Keck School of Medicine of the University of Southern California is seeking outstanding applicants to fill a Medical Oncology Genetic Counselor position. This position is a unique opportunity to work in the academic setting with an experienced and motivated team to address disparities in genetics. The patient population at LAC+USC reflects the diversity of Los Angeles County, and this genetic counselor will strive to provide compassionate and culturally informed genetic counseling to a majority non‑English, primarily Spanish‑speaking patient population. The genetic counseling position is comprised of both research and clinical roles. Research Responsibilities Counsel Hispanic/Latino research participants with colorectal cancer regarding their genomic findings and work to integrate these results into their medical care. Join efforts of the research team to improve participant engagement in the Cancer Moonshot project “Optimizing Engagement of Hispanic Colorectal Cancer Patients in Cancer Genomic Characterization Studies.” Formulate and support research activities related to the fields of genetic counseling, cancer genetics and genomics, and precision oncology. Clinical Responsibilities Oversee patient care and provide cancer genetic counseling services in a busy academic clinical medical oncology setting. Coordinate follow‑up visits and cascade genetic testing. Provide test results to patients and obtain/review medical records. Conduct outreach to patients, families, the medical community, and stakeholders. Qualifications Minimum Education: M.S. Genetic Counseling, Board eligible or Board certified. Minimum Experience: One‑year experience in genetic counseling preferred. Fluency in Spanish preferred.
