Job Description Summary:

Supervise the performance of the low voltage staff Position Responsibilities

• Team Leadership & Development: Assists with the orientation, training, and competency assessments of low voltage technicians. Encourages continuous professional growth and technical certifications (e.g., NICET, BICSI).
• Trade Supervision: Supervises and coordinates tradesmen and vendors working in the installation, preventive maintenance, maintenance, and repair of all facility low voltage systems.
• Fire & Life Safety Systems: Overhauls, monitors, and maintains fire alarm panels, smoke detectors, mass notification systems and associated life safety integrations in strict compliance with NFPA, TJC, AHCA, and local Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs).
• Nurse Call Networks: Ensures 100% operational reliability of primary emergency communication networks in patient rooms, including call buttons, corridor lights, and Code Blue alerts.
• Security & Access Control: Directly oversees the maintenance and deployment of closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras, digital recording systems, door automation/card readers, and infant abduction/wandering patient alarm tracking systems.
• Communication & Paging: Supervises the upkeep of overhead public address (PA) systems, campus intercoms, and distributed antenna systems (DAS) utilized by first responders.
• Patient Entertainment & Connectivity: Oversees interactive smart television networks, patient tracking systems, hospital radios, and interactive media infrastructure.
• Structured Cabling & Infrastructure: Oversees the pathway design, running, termination, and certification of Cat5e/Cat6 copper, coaxial and fiber-optic cables that support hardware, phones, and telemedicine equipment.
• Inspection & Troubleshooting: Conducts and documents routine technical inspections of low voltage systems to preemptively identify failure points. Troubleshoots and resolves highly complex hardware, signaling and networking issues.
• Operations Coordination: Prioritizes, assigns, and inspects work orders to ensure timely completion and compliance with electrical/low voltage codes, construction specifications, and safety regulations. Acts as a working crew leader when specialized project deployment demands.
• Vendor & Project Management: Oversees all external contractors and service vendors associated with proprietary low voltage software and hardware platforms. Reviews construction design documents to provide technical feedback on low voltage, fire alarm, and security footprints.
• Material Liaison: Requisitions and orders materials, specialized diagnostics tools and parts required to complete work requests in a timely fashion. Maintains an accurate and adequate inventory of cabling supplies, test equipment and spare hardware components.
• Regulatory Documentation: Ensures timely testing and accurate documentation is generated and organized for EPA, DERM, AHCA, and Joint Commission annual inspections. All compliance records must be pristine and available instantly upon request.
• Environmental Safety: Keeps all low voltage workshops, IT/data closets, and active work areas orderly, clean, and safe. Ensures the proper care, calibration, and use of delicate testing tools and electronic equipment.

Qualifications

• License/Registration/Certification
  
  • Possession of a valid Florida Driver License with no more than 4 points. NICET Certification (Fire Alarm Systems), BICSI Certification (Structured Cabling) certification preferred or equivalent technical low voltage licensure.
• Education
  
  • Graduate of trade or vocational school with courses in electrical. Completion of apprenticeship.
• Experience
  
  • Four years supervising personnel working in the electrical trades.
