Role Description The Registered Nurse First Assistant (RNFA) is a full-time (or part-time), on-site role based in Hilton Head Island, SC. The RNFA supports dermatologic and skin cancer procedures by assisting the physician in the operating and procedure rooms, including preparing patients, setting up sterile fields, and participating directly in surgical interventions as permitted by licensure and credentials. Daily responsibilities include assessing patients pre- and post-procedure, monitoring vital signs, administering prescribed medications, providing wound care and post-operative instructions, and documenting all care in accordance with practice policies and regulatory standards. The role also involves collaborating with physicians and clinical staff to coordinate patient flow, maintain equipment and supplies, reinforce patient education on treatment plans, and promote a safe, compassionate environment. The RNFA is expected to follow evidence-based practice, adhere to infection control protocols, and actively contribute to quality improvement efforts. Qualifications Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in South Carolina and current RNFA certification or eligibility; Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) preferred. Demonstrated clinical skills in patient assessment, perioperative nursing, wound care, and postoperative monitoring within surgical or procedural settings. Knowledge of sterile technique, infection prevention, safe medication administration, and regulatory and safety standards relevant to outpatient dermatologic procedures. Strong communication, collaboration, and patient education skills, with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and build trust with patients and families. Solid organizational and time-management abilities, including accurate documentation, attention to detail, and capacity to manage multiple patients and priorities. Prior experience in dermatology, surgical nursing, or outpatient procedural care is highly beneficial.
