Technical Project Manager III Location: Mostly remote; occasional on‑campus meetings at the University of Utah, Salt Lake City. Pay Range: $74,535 to $90,779 Grade: P20 Job Summary Join the Utah Data Coordinating Center (DCC) as a Technical Project Manager. You will plan, manage, and complete projects that enable innovative clinical research at the University of Utah and national partners. Working with a cross‑functional team—including program directors, administrative staff, report developers, statisticians, data managers, IT staff and other stakeholders—you will establish project teams, set scope, create specifications, manage budgets, monitor progress, solve problems, and keep leadership informed. Essential Functions Lead delivery of projects, ensuring they meet agreed time, cost, and quality; manage projects of varying complexity; and mentor junior managers. Maintain risk and issue logs; define mitigation plans with owners and timelines. Provide talent development; coach and mentor junior project managers; select project managers. Improve IT delivery methods—tools, processes, quality assurance. Set deadlines, assign responsibilities, monitor progress, summarize results. Develop creative solutions for technical and non‑technical challenges. Communicate effectively with technical and non‑technical audiences. Facilitate effective meetings that produce clear actions and consensus. Ensure IT plan aligns with project design and requirements. Build trusting relationships throughout the organization. Responsibilities Establish project teams and provide overall direction from initiation to delivery. Perform requirement gathering, estimation, and budget management. Formulate scope and delivery strategies, set milestones, and monitor progress. Create technical specifications based on user data, serve as liaison between technical and non‑technical teams, and keep leadership informed. Conduct complex work with minimal supervision. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s (or equivalency) + 6 years or Master’s + 4 years of directly related experience. One year of higher education may be substituted for one year of experience. Preferences Project Management Professional (PMP) certification. Proficient in Spanish. Experience with Confluence/Jira. Experience with Microsoft Project.
