Registered Nurse (RN)

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides professional nursing care across the lifespan in accordance with organizational standards, policies, and evidence-based practice. Utilizing the nursing process, the RN assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates patient care while delivering high-quality, culturally sensitive, and patient-centered services. Collaboration with providers and interdisciplinary teams is essential to promote optimal patient outcomes, safety, and a positive patient experience.

The RN will provide medication and nursing services in collaboration with providers, clinic staff, and leadership, ensuring high-quality care, efficient resource utilization, and compliance. Responsibilities include maintaining medication inventory and supplies, conducting required quality control checks for point-of-care testing, and documenting all patient care and clinical services per professional nursing standards. The RN will also manage daily medication room clinic opening and closing and communicate effectively with other departments to serve as a reliable resource for patients and staff.

Monday: 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Tuesday: 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Wednesday: 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Thursday: 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Friday: 6 a.m. – 2 p.m.

Saturday: 7 a.m. – 10 a.m.

Sunday: Closed

Holiday Hours: 7 a.m. – 10 a.m.

Medication Hours:

Monday – Friday: 6 a.m. – 11 a.m.

Saturday: 7 a.m. – 10 a.m.

Sunday: Closed

Admission Hours:

Monday – Thursday: 7 a.m. – 10 a.m. (or as scheduled)

Closed: Friday – Sunday

Patient Care Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive patient assessments and develop individualized plans of care.

Implement and evaluate nursing interventions and patient responses.

Administer medications and treatments safely and accurately per provider orders and policy.

Recognize changes in patient conditions and initiate appropriate interventions or escalate care as necessary.

Provide patient and family education related to care, medications, and discharge needs.

Deliver culturally responsive, patient-centered care.

Nursing Judgment & Clinical Decision-Making

In alignment with the Alaska Board of Nursing, nursing judgment is essential for safe and effective nursing care. The Registered Nurse independently applies critical thinking and professional judgment to:

Perform and interpret comprehensive assessments, recognizing significant changes in patient conditions.

Exercise independent nursing judgment in determining appropriate actions and priorities.

Develop, implement, and evaluate individualized nursing plans of care based on patient needs and circumstances.

Integrate clinical findings with ethical principles and patient safety standards when making nursing decisions.

Accept accountability for nursing decisions and outcomes of care.

Care Coordination & Documentation

Collaborate with providers and interdisciplinary team members to coordinate care.

Facilitate referrals, follow-up care, and continuity of services.

Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately and timely in electronic health records.

Advocate for patient care and assist patients in navigating the healthcare system.

Quality, Safety & Compliance

Practice within nursing scope and adhere to safety and infection prevention requirements.

Participate in quality and performance improvement activities.

Maintain required competencies and certifications.

Report adverse events and unsafe conditions as per policy.

Teamwork & Professional Practice

Demonstrate professionalism, accountability, and teamwork.

Provide guidance and delegation to ancillary staff.

Support the orientation and education of staff and peers.
