Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: Intermediate Care Stepdown Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12 Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: 1 year License: Active IL license required Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Experience with trach cares, BiPap, stroke, IV titration Ability to titrate drips such as heparin, nitro, cardizem, levo, cardene, precedex Strong understanding of patient care for conditions such as stroke, cardiac issues, sepsis, and surgical recovery Description: The unit has a bed capacity of 23. The nurse-to-patient ratio is 1:3-4. Charge nurse is available 24/7 and ideally does not take patients but will when necessary. Certified Nursing Assistants are utilized on the unit. Typical patient load for CNAs ranges from 8 to 23 patients. RNs will encounter various respiratory equipment including CPAP and BiPAP. RNs will be required to troubleshoot respiratory equipment but will not administer it directly. Monitor techs are available to observe rhythms and rates; however, nurses are responsible for interpreting their own strips. 12-hour shifts are scheduled from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. and 7 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. Travelers are expected to participate in a weekend rotation based on unit needs. Every other holiday is required, including Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's Day. Floating to other areas of the facility is expected, excluding emergency and obstetric units. Professional scrub attire in any color is permitted; scrubs are not provided. Unit-specific orientation will be conducted for 1-2 shifts. The charting system utilized is EPIC. This position does not require a BSN. The trauma level of the care setting is 1. This role is categorized under acute care nursing.
