Location: Baylor Scott & White Medical Center, Round Rock TX Department: Medical Surgical Schedule: Full Time Nights Job Summary As a Registered Nurse, oversee patient care using a professional practice model. Responsibilities include patient assessment, recognizing health issues, creating care plans, assessing patient responses, and securing patient travel. Understand patient needs, follow the Texas Nursing Practice Act, and delegate tasks based on patient condition and team competencies. Essential Functions Conduct detailed clinical assessments and prioritize patient and family needs; create, implement, and evaluate care plans to reach desired outcomes. Build relationships, manage discomfort, and maintain professionalism to foster therapeutic connections with patients and families. Create care plans that reflect patients’ values to resolve issues effectively. Educate patients, families, nurses, and community members; empower them with knowledge for better healthcare choices and assess learning needs regularly. Collaborate with colleagues and community to develop a comprehensive care plan, delegate tasks carefully, and follow up promptly. Employ problem‑solving strategies with patients, families, and staff; recognize limitations and prioritize safety, effectiveness, and efficiency in care planning and delivery. Achieve goals through teamwork, acknowledge contributions, commit to personal growth, support peers’ development, and demonstrate community service commitment. Key Success Factors Deep understanding of nursing and patient care standards, procedures, and patient safety. Knowledge of nursing laws, regulations, hospital procedures, and guidelines. Proficiency in medical terminology, disease prevention, management, medication therapy, and side effects. Respect for medical and professional nursing ethics and patient privacy rights. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Positive social skills to facilitate interactions with diverse parties. Excellent problem‑solving and critical thinking abilities. Basic computer skills, including Microsoft Office, information security, scheduling, payroll systems, electronic medical documentation, and email.
