Associate Director, IT Vendor & Asset Management

We are seeking a strategic and experienced Associate Director, IT Vendor & Asset Management to lead Otsuka America’s IT vendor and contract portfolio. This role is responsible for the end-to-end ownership of approximately $25 million in global IT contracts, including complex enterprise agreements with vendors such as Microsoft and Adobe. This position serves as a senior individual contributor and strategic partner to IT leadership, Legal, Finance, and global affiliate stakeholders. The Associate Director will drive vendor governance, contract negotiations, IT financial oversight, and risk management across the company. While the role does not initially include direct people management, it is designed to evolve into a leadership position as the function matures. Job Description As the Associate Director, IT Vendor & Asset Management, you will provide enterprise-level leadership for IT vendor strategy, contract management, and asset governance. This role blends strategic planning, financial accountability, and cross-functional execution to ensure IT investment delivers maximum value, compliance, and risk mitigation. Responsibilities: Global Contract Ownership: Own and manage Otsuka America’s IT contract portfolio (~$25M), including large-scale enterprise software and service agreements. Lead negotiations and renewals for critical vendors, with demonstrated experience negotiating Microsoft and Adobe contracts. Vendor Management & Governance: Establish and maintain strong strategic relationships with key IT vendors. Lead vendor performance governance, including SLAs, QBRs, escalations, and remediation plans, ensuring alignment with business and technology objectives. RFP & Negotiations: Lead RFP/RFI development, competitive sourcing efforts, and complex contract negotiations in partnership with Legal and Finance. Secure favorable commercial terms, pricing structures, and contractual protections. Risk Assessment & Management: Identify, assess, and mitigate risks related to vendors, contracts, software licensing, compliance, security, and financial exposure. Ensure contracts align with internal policies and regulatory requirements. Financial Management: Partner with Finance to manage IT budgets, forecasting, and vendor spend tracking. Oversee allocations to affiliates and Shared Services chargebacks, ensuring transparency, accuracy, and cost optimization. Project & Cross-Functional Leadership: Lead cross-functional initiatives involving IT, Finance, Legal, and global affiliates. Apply strong project management skills to drive contract, vendor, and asset management initiatives to completion. Asset Management Oversight: Provide strategic oversight of the IT asset management program, ensuring effective lifecycle management, licensing governance, and optimization of hardware and software assets. Vendor Management Process & Policy Development: Contribute to and lead the evolution of vendor management, contract management, and IT asset management policies and processes, aligned with industry best practices and organizational needs. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications / Required 8+ years of progressive experience in IT vendor management, IT asset management, IT procurement, or contract management. Proven experience negotiating large, complex IT contracts, including enterprise agreements with Microsoft and Adobe. Strong expertise in vendor governance, contract lifecycle management, and RFP execution. Demonstrated financial acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, cost allocation, and chargeback models. Experience assessing and managing risk related to vendors, licensing, compliance, and financial exposure. Strong project management and cross-functional leadership skills. Excellent analytical, communication, and negotiation skills. Ability to operate effectively as a senior individual contributor while influencing outcomes across the organization. Strategic mindset with the ability to align vendor and asset management activities to business objectives. Preferred Qualifications Familiarity with ITIL, software licensing models, and IT asset management frameworks. Experience with IT asset and contract management tools (e.g., Jira Service Management, Evisort). Prior experience mentoring or leading team members, with readiness for future people management responsibilities. Educational Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Business Administration, Supply Chain, Finance, or a related field; equivalent experience may be considered. Pay Range The starting base pay for this position in the San Francisco Bay area is as shown below. The actual base pay is dependent upon a variety of factors such as professional background, training, work experience, location, business needs and market demand. Therefore, in some circumstances, the actual salary could fall outside of this expected range. This pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future.
