To learn more about our programs and our team, visit WE ARE LOOKING FOR\nWe are actively seeking energetic, organized, and team-oriented New Jersey based After School Site Director to join our cohort of 10-15 Site Directors from September 2026 through June 2027. This is a part-time position during the school year, with the potential to work during the summer (July - August) at a Kids in the Game summer camp as part of a camp leadership team.\nAfter School Site Directors at New Jersey and NYC-based after school programs must be able to travel to the Kids in the Game office located in Manhattan at least once per week, and to NYC-based schools for orientation and ongoing training during the year.\nAs a valued member of Kids in the Game, you will be able to help us follow and model our 5 organizational core values through action:\n\n Positivity: Create an energetic and uplifting environment where kids feel excited to participate.\n Empathy: Show understanding and support for each child’s unique needs and emotions.\n Commitment: Be dependable and deliver consistent, high-quality programming.\n Ambition: Strive to continuously improve as a coach and inspire youth to set and achieve personal goals.\n Inclusivity: Ensure every child, regardless of ability or background, feels welcomed and valued.\n\nWHAT YOU’LL BE DOING\nThe New Jersey After School Site Director plays a key leadership role in delivering high-quality after-school programming for elementary school students at public, private, and charter schools. This is a school-year, part-time position (September - June) focused on the daily implementation, safety, and culture of a single after-school site serving approximately 30–100 students. The After School Site Director supports administrative and operational systems, leads coaching staff, manages logistics, and fosters a safe, inclusive, and enriching environment.\nAs the on-site supervisor, the Site Director is responsible for supervising staff, overseeing day-to-day operations of the after school program, and maintaining strong relationships with families, school partners, and internal departments at Kids in the Game. The Site Director ensures that the program aligns with Kids in the Game’s mission, values, programming, and quality standards. This includes ensuring that the program staff are meeting training and program quality expectations to provide all participants with positive experiences and opportunities through homework assistance, enrichment classes, and sports and creative play activities.\nKey responsibilities include:Meetings & Office Hours:\n\n Virtual office hours 1 day per week:\n \n Thursday mornings (10:00am - 1:00pm)\n \n Includes biweekly Site Director meeting from 11am - 11:30am\n \n \n \n Attend 1 office hour shift per month at the Kids in the Game Office\n \n 45 E 20th St Floor 4, NY, NY 10003\n \n \n Attend biweekly 1:1 with Program Manager (virtual or in-person)\n \n To be conducted during after school or office hours \n \n Attend monthly 1:1 with People & Culture Department (virtual or in-person)\n May include optional office shift during extended school break weeks (Mid-winter/Spring) if Spring Break Camps are not operating\nTraining Expectations and Responsibilities:\n\n Participate in the 2026–2027 Professional Development series running from September through May, consisting of a combination of mandatory in-person workshops, virtual workshops, and Leadership Institutes.\n \n See Appendix A for the 2026-2027 Site Director Professional Development Calendar.\n \n Must meet a minimum of 30-35 training hours per school year through a combination of in-person, live virtual, and virtual training.\n Site Directors are expected to attend at least 75% of all professional development sessions throughout the school year. Failure to meet participation may negatively impact performance ratings and result in disciplinary action leading up to and including termination.\n Complete all required onboarding, orientation, and compliance trainings, including Mandated Reporter and Sexual Harassment Prevention trainings.\n Complete required training modules in TalentLMS (Site Director Foundations Course, general training topics, and SACC training topics if applicable).\n\n Support new staff by modeling expectations, reviewing key protocols, and ensuring they are fully trained on Kids in the Game policies and practices.\n Lead on-site training huddles with your staff to reinforce policies, introduce new initiatives, and review youth development best practices.\n Attend a minimum of 2 Culture & Impact Days per school year (if applicable). \nDaily and Weekly Operations\n\n Serve as the lead on-site representative of Kids in the Game at a designated after school site, overseeing program structure, transitions, and schedules\n Report to the after school program by 2pm each day & clock in via Paycom\n \n 12:30pm for sites with half-day programs starting at 1:00 - 1:30pm\n \n Supervise a team of 5–15 part-time staff, including newly hired and seasoned youth development workers\n Lead daily huddles and weekly team meetings to set expectations, review plans, and address challenges\n Conduct regular program walkthroughs and observations to provide staff feedback and uphold quality\n Ensure high-quality programming, smooth transitions, daily schedules, and consistent staff performance\n Monitor, document, and address behavioral and safety concerns\n Facilitate parent and family communication and respond to incidents, questions, or concerns\n Provide daily and weekly updates to the Program Manager related to program operations, enrollment, programming, supplies & equipment, behavioral/safety incidents, staff performance, family engagement, and partner communications\nProgramming and Special Events:\n\n Design weekly and monthly program schedules and calendar of events, including Sports & Games, Creative Club, Discover Club, Movement, Special Events, and Parent Play Nights (3-4 per year)\n Build engaging weekly schedules using Program Design resources and activities in the Coaches Portal, adjusting for participant needs and site capacity\n Implement the Kids in the Game Specialized Units and signature programming (if applicable)\n Plan and support the staff in facilitating hands-on activities in key areas such as STEM, art, team games, movement, and special events\n Align daily programming with monthly themes (e.g. Healthy Heart, March Madness) and ensure that participants are learning new games, sports, and STEAM skills\n Prepare and lead site-specific celebrations, including painting class, family showcases, talent shows, and holiday events\n Support vendor relationships and coordinate enrichment instructor schedules and logistics (enrichment after school sites)\n Provide feedback to Program Design team on activity implementation, participant engagement, and activity adjustments through weekly reports\nAdministrative Systems & Task Management:\n\n Maintain accurate attendance, incident, and schedule records using shared platforms including Paycom, Asana, After School Site Hubs, and LineLeader\n Track daily data: attendance, drop-in enrollments, injuries and incidents (participants & staff), customer inquiries, staff absences and lateness\n Review and update staff timesheets on a weekly/biweekly basis in Paycom\n Communicate with internal departments via Slack, Gmail, and phone calls\n Post regular (weekly/biweekly) program updates via Slack and complete monthly newsletters\n Communicate with registered families through Aircall, Gmail, and company-approved communication channels\n Collect and share program feedback through staff surveys, Slack channels, and informal conversations\n Complete administrative tasks including collecting lesson plans and updating supplies and inventory logs\n Maintain a well-organized and clean office or storage space at the school\nBudgeting & Finance Support:\n\n Review annual program budget and plan how to spend the budget to support programming activities, special events, supplies and purchasing, staff appreciation, and parent events\n Purchase supplies in collaboration with the Program Manager and Operations Department; follow the appropriate supplies purchasing protocol\n Ensure that all purchases are tracked in the budget and receipts are submitted within 2 days of purchase\n Work with the Enrollment Coordinator and Finance Team to manage billing, collect and track payments, and reduce outstanding registration balances\n Manage family communications related to balances and outstanding payments via email, phone, and in-person meetings\nFamily & School Partnership:\n\n Model inclusive practices and promote a culture of belonging for staff, families, and school partners and support staff\n Represent Kids in the Game at school-sponsored events, family meetings, open houses, and registration events\n Lead special programming efforts such as themed events, family engagement nights, and Parent Play Nights\nStaff Leadership & Scheduling:\n\n Work with the Program Manager and the People & Culture Department to discuss staff ratios and scheduling needs\n Recommend coach placements based on skills and program fit; submit coach feedback to the People & Culture Department\n Help onboard new staff by walking them through site routines, require coaching practices (e.g. call and responses, Rule of 3), communication protocols, and daily expectations\n Provide regular reminders, feedback, and coaching to the staff to help them become stronger coaches \n Document and address staff performance concerns or incidents through memos and PDFs in Paycom to issue verbal and written warnings\n Administer staff performance reviews twice per year in collaboration with the People & Culture Department\n Complete a self-assessment twice per year (fall and spring) and receive a supervisor assessment from designated Program Manager\nHealth & Safety:\n\n Monitor on-site safety of participants and staff, train staff on safety protocols, and intervene when incidents arise\n Complete daily incident and injury reports; follow the incident documentation and communication process thoroughly and in a timely manner (24-48 hrs)\n Provide regular reminders about health and safety protocols, including supervision ratios, safe play and equipment use, hydration and breaks, physical contact, harassment and bullying, etc.\n\nSchedule and Compensation\nSite Directors must be available during after school hours Monday - Friday from September 2, 2026 through June 18, 2027. Site Directors are not expected to work during school closures and holidays. \nNote: Most after school programs operate from 3-6pm daily; Site Directors are expected to be on-site at 2pm. Some private and charter schools operate half day after school programs once per week (Wednesdays or Fridays). Site Directors are expected to be on-site by 1pm to lead the half day programming with their team of coaches.\nTypical Weekly Schedule:\n\n After School Program Hours: 22 to 25 hours per week\n \n 2:00 - 6:00pm daily\n \n Office Hours: 3 hours per week (virtual for most Thursdays and once per month in-person at the Manhattan office)\n \n Thursdays, 10:00am - 1:00pm\n \n Training Hours:\n \n 35-40 hours of Site Director live & virtual training per school year\n Culture & Impact Days - $55 per day\n Virtual Training - $25 per session\n \n\nHourly Compensation:\nThis position is a part-time, hourly position. Site Directors are paid hourly for hours worked in after school programming, scheduled office hours, and in-person training. \nCompensation is based on multiple factors, including program size, after school program type, and # of years as an After School Site Director.\n\n New Site Director (Years 1 & 2)\n \n Hourly rate: $30/hour\n \n Returning Site Director (Year 3-5)\n \n Hourly rate: $32/hour\n \n\nRequirements\nWHAT WE ARE GOING TO LOVE ABOUT YOU\nOur ideal Site Director would meet some or all of the following qualifications:\n\n Bachelor’s Degree in the areas of Early Childhood or K-12 Education, Psychology, Social Work, Physical Education, or a related field is strongly preferred.\n Possess at least 3-4 years of experience working with children ages 4-11 in academic or recreational settings (summer camp, after school, tutoring programs).\n Possess at least 2 years of prior leadership experience (leading a team of staff and/or programs with 50+ children.\n Possess strong interpersonal skills to work with different age groups (children, staff, parents) and partner with schools to support children’s physical and emotional needs.\n Demonstrate the ability to communicate at a high level by email, internal chat messenger (Slack), in-person, and on the phone.\n Demonstrate personal organizational skills - manage their time and tasks independently, complete administrative record keeping and data entry tasks.\n Demonstrate the ability to problem solve quickly, communicate effectively, and display good judgment when operating a youth program.\n Employment Requirement:\n \n Up-to-date physical exam and tuberculosis test documentation will be required before starting\n You must pass Federal and NY State background checks and be willing to complete NYC Department of Education fingerprinting before starting\n CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications are a plus\n \n\nWHAT YOU ARE GOING TO LOVE ABOUT US\n\n We are a youthful, passionate, committed team of individuals that care about our youth and city.\n We are committed to developing innovative, creative programs that promote creative play and sports skill development.\n We work hard and push each other personally and professionally to keep growing.\n We offer you the freedom to reach new parts of NYC while working in diverse
