We offer our Graduate Registered Nurses clinical instruction and additional learning opportunities as they complete the Nurse Residency program. Under the general direction of Nursing Leadership and in collaboration with a nurse preceptor and nurse educator along with an interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse Resident utilizes evidence-based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, and policies and procedures of the hospital. This position develops a plan of care, which includes standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of the patient and family.

Qualifications:

• Education: Completion of a formal Nursing program. Associate's degree in Nursing
• Licensure, Certification, Registration: Registered Nurse, State of CT. Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA) obtained within 1 Month (30 days) of hire date or job transfer date. Additional certifications may be required in specific specialties
• Language Skills: Must be able to effectively communicate information in English.
• Knowledge, Skills and Ability Requirements: Applies the principles and practices of nursing. Ability to develop, deliver and evaluate patient care. Works towards caring for a full patient assignment with expanding scope of responsibilities over time. Basic knowledge of high reliability. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Uses communication skills to foster a healthy work environment and facilitate positive patient outcomes and experience. Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families and co-workers. Applies knowledge of care for age specific populations. Ability to work as part of a collaborative team. Self-directed in clinical responsibilities. Ability to manage and organize multiple clinical priorities. Proficiency in basic computer skills and use of industry applications/programs. Ability to learn new technology and programs as advancements and changes are implemented.

Regular Standard Hours Per Week: 36 Schedule: Part-time (2 - 39 hours) Shift Details: 36h GN position, night shift. every 3rd weekend. Every other holiday.
