Position Highlights • Sign‑on bonus up to $15,000. • Student Loan Repayment Program – $167 per month (up to $10,000 total). • Self‑scheduling program.
Why Behavioral Health is Important The Avera Behavioral Health Acute Unit is a short‑term inpatient unit focused on safety and stabilization. Patients participate in healthy living and expressive therapies, including art, music, and fitness.

Unit Details The unit has 18 beds and offers the opportunity to meet 60+ coworkers, work in a positive environment, and change patients’ lives.
Responsibilities Provide patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions and communicating the nursing care plan to the health care team.
Coordinate with other healthcare providers and provide physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends.
Develop and maintain nursing care plans, including assessments, diagnoses, objectives, and interventions.
Educate patients and families about conditions, medications, and self‑care skills; answer questions and provide resources.
Evaluate patient care against therapeutic standards, measure outcomes, and modify plans as needed.
Maintain a safe, secure environment by adhering to infection‑control policies, medication protocols, and substance regulations.
Document patient care services in charts and department records.
Maintain patient‑care equipment and supplies, troubleshoot, and order replacements.
Maintain competence in nursing capabilities as outlined by leadership.
Essential Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) license from the state of practice.
Ability to perform essential job functions, including adequate visual acuity and effective communication.

Preferred Experience 1–3 years of experience in a clinical environment.
