Position Summary:

Weatherspoon Security is seeking highly professional and qualified Armed Security Officers to ensure the safety and security of our clients and their premises. As an Armed Security Officer, you will be responsible for maintaining a safe and secure environment, deterring criminal activity, and responding to potential security incidents. Your strong sense of responsibility, attention to detail, and adherence to strict security protocols will play a critical role in protecting our clients' assets and ensuring the well-being of the public.

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Security Patrol: Conduct regular patrols of designated areas to deter criminal activity and enforce security procedures.
• Threat Assessment: Identify potential security risks and promptly report any suspicious activities or individuals to the appropriate authorities.
• Access Control: Monitor access points, check credentials, and enforce proper entry procedures to restricted areas.
• Armed Response: Be prepared to respond promptly to security incidents or emergencies, maintaining composure and acting professionally under pressure.
• Firearms Handling: Demonstrate proficiency and adherence to firearm safety protocols while carrying and using weapons.
• Safety Measures: Implement and enforce safety measures to prevent accidents, injury, or harm to individuals on the premises.
• Emergency Response: Coordinate with law enforcement and emergency services in the event of a crisis situation, providing crucial support and information.
• Coordinate with monitoring: Utilize surveillance systems to monitor premises and identify potential security breaches.
• Incident Documentation: Prepare accurate and detailed incident reports for any security-related events, ensuring all information is properly documented.
• Customer Service: Provide excellent customer service while interacting with clients, visitors, and employees, maintaining a professional and courteous demeanor at all times.
• Legal Compliance: Stay up-to-date with federal, state, and local laws regarding security practices, firearm regulations, and safety protocols.
• Continuous Training: Participate in ongoing training sessions to enhance your knowledge and skills in security procedures and firearm handling.

Pay Rate:

The starting pay rate for this position is $16.25 per hour, with potential for growth and advancement based on performance and experience.

1. Firearms Proficiency: Demonstrated skill and expertise in handling firearms, including proper weapon maintenance, loading, unloading, and safe carrying practices.
2. Security Protocols: Comprehensive knowledge of security procedures, access control, and threat assessment to effectively identify and respond to potential security risks.
3. Emergency Response: Ability to remain calm under pressure and respond swiftly to security incidents or emergencies with a focus on maintaining public safety.
4. Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills to effectively interact with clients, visitors, employees, and law enforcement officials.
5. Surveillance Expertise: Experience in monitoring surveillance systems and CCTV cameras to proactively detect security breaches and suspicious activities.
6. Physical Fitness: Maintaining physical fitness and stamina to conduct regular patrols, stand for extended periods, and respond to emergencies.
7. Customer Service: A strong commitment to delivering exceptional customer service while enforcing security protocols and dealing with clients and the public.

Qualifications and Requirements:  

• Age Requirement: The minimum age to apply for an armed security officer license in North Carolina is typically 21 years old.
• U.S. Citizenship or Legal Residency: Applicants must be either U.S. citizens or legal residents with the appropriate work authorization.
• Education: A high school diploma or equivalent is a must or higher education
• Criminal Background Check: Applicants must undergo a comprehensive criminal background check, including fingerprinting, to determine eligibility for a security license. Certain criminal convictions may disqualify applicants from obtaining a license.
• Armed Security Training: Completion of state-approved training for armed security officers is mandatory. 
• Firearms Qualification: Applicants must demonstrate proficiency in handling firearms by passing a firearms qualification test conducted during the training course.

Physical Demands 

• Standing and Walking: Officers may be required to stand and walk for extended periods while patrolling designated areas.
• Lifting and Carrying: Occasional lifting and carrying of heavy objects or equipment may be necessary.
• Physical Endurance: The ability to maintain physical stamina throughout the shift to respond promptly to incidents or emergencies.
• Firearms Handling: Proficiency in handling firearms, which requires sufficient physical strength and dexterity.
• Physical Agility: Quick reflexes and agility to react promptly to potential security threats.
• Climbing and Stairs: The need to climb stairs or navigate challenging terrain during patrols
• Environmental Exposure: Working outdoors in various weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, or snow.

Work Environment:

• Security Premises: Officers will work in a variety of settings, such as commercial buildings, retail establishments, residential complexes, and public spaces.
• Shift Work: The job may involve working during different shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, to provide 24/7 security coverage.
• High-Visibility Presence: Officers may need to maintain a visible and authoritative presence to deter potential criminal activities.
• Indoor and Outdoor Work: Officers will alternate between indoor and outdoor duties during their shifts.
• Risk and Hazard Awareness: Awareness of potential security risks and hazards to maintain personal safety and that of others.
• Emergency Response: The possibility of responding to security incidents, emergencies, or alarms at any time during the shift.
• Collaboration: Interacting with other security personnel, law enforcement, clients, visitors, and employees, requiring strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Stressful Situations: Dealing with stressful and unpredictable situations while maintaining composure and professionalism.
• Confidentiality: Handling sensitive information and maintaining confidentiality in all matters related to security operations.
