About the Role
The Company is seeking a VP of Power Origination with a focus on data center expansion. This executive role is pivotal in addressing the critical challenge of securing committed, contracted generation capacity and energy delivery for hyperscale data center projects. The successful candidate will be responsible for architecting and leading the execution of bespoke power solutions, a process that requires a deep understanding of the commercial and regulatory aspects of energy. Key responsibilities include setting portfolio-level energy strategy, serving as the senior interface with energy and infrastructure teams, and coordinating with various internal and external stakeholders. The role demands a deal-maker mindset, technical fluency, and the ability to negotiate and advance complex energy and capacity deals. Applicants for the VP of Power Origination role at the company should have a minimum of 10 years' experience in commercial and regulatory energy roles, with a proven track record of closing bespoke energy and capacity deals. The ideal candidate will be familiar with utility tariff structures, PPA terms, and large-load interconnection processes, and be fluent in the technical language of the grid. A background in behind-the-meter gas generation, battery storage, demand-response programs, and bilateral PPA negotiation is highly valued. The role requires a persuasive individual who is comfortable operating in a high-growth, founder-led environment and is motivated by the opportunity to define both the role and the energy industry category. Possible backgrounds include principal-level energy strategists from major tech companies, commercial-side utility executives, and operators from PE-backed infrastructure platforms with a focus on bespoke energy execution.
