Assistant Director of Student Rights & Responsibilities

Assistant Director of Student Rights & Responsibilities Central Connecticut State University invites applications for the Assistant Director of Student Rights & Responsibilities. This full‑time position supports the Office of Student Rights & Responsibilities, working to uphold due process rights and student conduct administration. About the Office The Office’s mission is to increase student awareness of their rights and responsibilities, educate students in critical thinking, and improve campus living and learning environments. Position Profile The Assistant Director assists the Director with overall operations of the Office and the administration of the Student Code of Conduct and Statement of Disciplinary Procedures, ensuring student rights and responsibilities are upheld. Supervision Exercised Not applicable. Position Responsibilities Assumes overall responsibility for the Office in the absence of the Director. Advises stakeholders of student conduct policies and disciplinary procedures to increase awareness of student rights and the administration process. Conducts pre‑hearing investigations and expedites the administrative disposition of alleged misconduct cases. Maintains competencies related to the case‑management process, including use of case‑management software and specialized training. Designs, develops, and coordinates outreach activities for students, parents, faculty, and other groups. Assesses effectiveness of programs to provide continuous improvement of services. Establishes and maintains liaison with University departments, department chairs, and student support services administrators. Conducts research on best practices and current trends in student conduct administration. Assists in the development and implementation of policies, procedures, publications, website materials, learning outcomes, and programs to improve student perspective and civic responsibility. Trains hearing bodies, Residence Life staff, student organizations, and faculty on conduct issues. Designs and presents workshops to classes, clubs, and faculty on topics such as sexual harassment and community standards. Performs other duties related to the above responsibilities. Applicant Evaluative Criteria Minimum Qualifications Required A Bachelor’s degree. Three years of experience working in higher education and serving on student conduct hearing boards. Specialized training in student conduct administration. Strong written and oral communication and organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to use enterprise software and Microsoft Office Suite. Credentials and/or experience comparable to the above may also be considered. Ideal Candidate A Master’s degree in Higher Education, Counseling, Criminal Justice, or related field. Two years adjudicating conduct or disciplinary cases at an educational institution. Familiarity with electronic student conduct information‑management systems (e.g., Simplicity or Maxient). Experience facilitating constructive dialogue and mediation between students in escalated situations. Benefits include paid personal, vacation and sick leave accruals; medical, dental, and prescription plans; group life insurance; retirement; retiree health care; tuition waiver for employee and eligible dependents at Connecticut State Universities; and other voluntary and supplemental benefits.
