Job Summary: Under the general direction of Nursing Leadership and in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse utilizes evidence-based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, and policies and procedures of the hospital. This position develops a plan of care for complex, multi-varianced population of patients, which includes standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural, and educational needs of the patient and family.

Qualifications:

• Education: Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Associate's degree in Nursing. Successful completion of nurse residency, if applicable.
• Experience: One year of experience with a minimum of 1000 hours of clinical experience as a licensed registered nurse. Experience of IV/line placement required. ACLS certified. Must be ICU trained. PD Vascular Access/Critical care RN position CCU experience required.
• Licensure, Certification, Registration: Registered Nurse, State of CT. Certified BLS Provider credentialed from the American Heart Association (AHA). Additional certifications may be required in specific specialties.
• Language Skills: Must be able to effectively communicate information in English.

• Applies the principles and practices of nursing.
• Membership in a professional nursing organization preferred.
• Demonstrated ability to develop, deliver and evaluate patient care.
• Cares for a full patient assignment with expanding scope of responsibilities over time.
• Knowledge of high reliability.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Uses communication skills to foster a healthy work environment and facilitate positive patient outcomes and experience.
• Demonstrates cultural sensitivity in all interactions with patients/families and co-workers.
• Strong knowledge of and demonstrated skills in providing care for age specific populations.
• Strong ability to work as part of a collaborative team.
• Ability to act as a preceptor and charge nurse as needed.
• Self-directed in clinical responsibilities.
• Ability to manage and organize multiple clinical priorities.
• Strong computer skills and use of industry applications/programs. Ability to learn new technology and programs as advancements and changes are implemented.

Regular Standard Hours Per Week: 36

Schedule: Part-time (2 - 39 hours)

Shift Details: 36 hour night Vascular Access position. Every other weekend Critical care experience 3 years required.
