Environmental Services Tech II - Advocate Christ Hospital & Medical Center Advocate Christ Hospital & Medical Center - 4440 W 95th St May 1, 2026 $40K - $59K Department: 11906 Advocate Christ Medical Center - Environmental Services Benefits Eligible: Yes Hours Per Week: 20 Pay Range: $19.80 - $29.70 Major Responsibilities Scrub, strip, polish and refine floors using appropriate equipment and/or supplies. Operate mechanical and electrical cleaning equipment, including ringers, vacuums, electric floor machines and sweepers. Clean or sanitize after emergency spills as requested. Analyze floor or carpet conditions and determine proper cleaning techniques, following departmental processes. Maintain hard surface floors and carpets following departmental processes. Exhibit timely and satisfactory completion of all job assignments. Exercise initiative by seeking additional tasks from group leaders or other associates when time permits. Use and maintain equipment, keeping it clean and in good repair; keep work area orderly, clean and safe. Dispose waste in a timely manner to ensure hospital cleanliness. Collect hazardous and medical waste according to hospital processes/DOT/RSPA training (hazardous and pharmaceutical). Replace and transport sharps containers to the waste staging area. Collect soiled linen. Remove and dispose of rubbish from selected areas following safety guidelines. Separate regular and recyclable trash according to procedure. Operate waste compactors safely and efficiently. Clean and/or sanitize all garbage/waste disposal containers. Demonstrate a commitment to satisfying customer needs and exceeding expectations. Display patience and tact when dealing with other hospital personnel. Present the department in a positive manner to all contacts. Maintain a courteous and pleasant attitude toward patients, families and other contacts. Maintain confidentiality of patient and departmental information. Utilize AIDET with internal and external customers, meeting system goal. Identify and resolve interpersonal conflicts constructively within the workplace. Demonstrate a positive, supportive attitude toward patient families and staff in emergency and non‑emergency situations. Arrange furniture for meetings, workshops, and community affairs according to departmental specifications. Relocate furniture, equipment, etc., as requested. Complete terminal cleans as needed. Cross‑train on discharge room cleans and OR cleaning to accommodate hospital needs during peak periods or staffing shortages, and complete housekeeping aide duties as needed. Complete discharge room clean following hospital process. Complete OR cleaning following hospital processes. Attend all mandatory departmental and hospital meetings and in‑services. Complete annual CBTs required. Follow written departmental goals and objectives; review annually with the manager. Seek education and learning experiences in identified growth areas and review progress during annual evaluation. Maintain proper attendance as outlined in the Hospital Policy and Procedure Manual. Plan for special days off in advance, submitting written requests for time off to department management for approval per departmental guidelines. Request PTO time in accordance with departmental policy. Provide adequate notice to department management for absences and call two hours prior to shift start as required by policy. Education and Experience Required High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent work experience. 1–2 years of prior housekeeping experience (preferred). Basic computer skills preferred. Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required Ability to operate small electrical equipment (e.g., vacuum cleaners). Excellent customer service skills. Ability to communicate effectively in English, including reading and comprehending chemical labels and other safety materials. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions Job responsibilities involve walking, standing, bending, climbing and lifting throughout the day. Ability to lift up to 35 pounds without assistance; for lifts over 35 pounds lifting equipment is expected to be used or assistance obtained. Unique lifting/movement situations will be assessed on a case‑by‑case basis. Other related duties may be required.
