Position Overview
Bryant Staffing Solutions is recruiting a Senior Associate - Regulatory Tax for an established organization in the telecommunications industry.
This position focuses on managing state and local regulatory tax compliance, preparing required filings, evaluating financial information, and supporting accounting and regulatory initiatives.
The ideal candidate brings experience in tax compliance, financial analysis, regulatory reporting, and process automation. Success in this role requires strong analytical abilities, attention to detail, and the ability to coordinate effectively with legal, accounting, finance, and technology teams.

Key Responsibilities

• Regulatory Compliance: Manage state and local regulatory submissions, including video franchise fees, Public, Educational, and Governmental (PEG) filings, and business license requirements.
• Financial Analysis: Review financial and billing data to calculate regulatory obligations, evaluate franchise recovery expenses, and identify discrepancies.
• Surcharge Administration: Analyze surcharge recovery amounts and coordinate changes to billing surcharges when appropriate.
• Contract Compliance: Collaborate with legal and billing departments to evaluate franchise agreement renewals and implement updated payment requirements.
• Payment Processing: Coordinate regulatory payments, monitor liabilities, and maintain accurate expense records in accordance with internal financial controls.
• Accounting Support: Review account reconciliations, prepare or evaluate accrual journal entries, and investigate differences between regulatory expenses and recoveries.
• Regulatory Research: Monitor legislative and regulatory developments, assess their financial impact, and recommend compliance adjustments.
• Financial Reporting: Support budgeting, monthly reporting, cash forecasting, performance metrics, and financial analyses related to mergers and acquisitions.
• Audit and Internal Controls: Maintain compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements, assist with audits, and resolve regulatory notices and billing inquiries.
• Cross-Functional Projects: Provide regulatory guidance for new product introductions, billing system enhancements, and organizational restructuring.
• Process Optimization: Identify opportunities to improve accuracy, streamline reporting, and automate repetitive financial and regulatory processes.

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or a minimum of four years of equivalent professional experience.
• At least four years of relevant professional experience, including experience in tax, finance, accounting, or a related discipline.
• Experience with tax research, tax accounting, SOX compliance, telecommunications taxation, and tax-saving strategies.
• Working knowledge of financial reporting, compliance requirements, and regulatory processes.
• Experience using Alteryx for data analysis or workflow automation.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to maintain accuracy while managing multiple assignments and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a closely related field.
• Approximately 5–7 years of relevant tax, finance, or regulatory accounting experience.
• Previous experience supporting telecommunications regulatory compliance.
• Experience analyzing large financial datasets and information from billing systems.
• Familiarity with SAP or comparable enterprise general ledger applications.
• Proficiency with Power BI and other business intelligence or reporting platforms.
• Experience with automation and analytics applications such as Alteryx, Qlik, Tableau, Google Apps Script, Gemini, or other AI-enabled tools.
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and proficiency with Word and PowerPoint.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet regulatory reporting deadlines.
• Strong written communication, verbal presentation, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
• Familiarity with regulatory payment controls, financial forecasting, and compliance audits.

• Financial Reporting and Accounting: Ability to evaluate liabilities, expenses, accruals, and regulatory payment calculations.
• Process Automation: Experience applying technology to increase reporting efficiency and minimize manual processing.
• Communication and Collaboration: Ability to coordinate with legal, finance, accounting, billing, and technology stakeholders.
