Senior Commercial General Liability & Workers’ Compensation Claims Adjuster

Essential Responsibilities Adjudicate highly complex indemnity and federal black lung workers’ compensation claims, and commercial general liability claims with limited technical direction. Provide laser‑focused customer service, develop meaningful, long‑lasting connections with insured and brokers. Solve difficult problems requiring broader issue understanding. Report to senior management, loss control, and underwriters on claims trends and developments. Identify loss drivers and claims trends to reduce claims frequency and severity through data analysis and improved claim management. Investigate claims promptly and thoroughly, including interviewing involved parties. Analyze claims forms, policies, endorsements, client instructions, and other records to determine policy coverage. Write own coverage letters. Manage claims in litigation. Manage diary tasks to ensure cases move to best financial outcome and timely resolution. Create and review reserves in line with market and Argo's reserving policy. Coordinate expertise resources for case resolution. Prepare reports for file documentation. Apply creative solutions resulting in best financial outcome. Settle straightforward claims within authority limits and adhere to referral procedures. Negotiate cost‑effective solutions within limits using diverse styles. Process mail and prioritize workload. Complete telephone calls and written correspondence to/from various parties (insured, claimant, etc.). Maintain appreciation and passion for strong claim management. Qualifications / Experience Required Advanced knowledge of commercial general liability and workers’ compensation claims, with exceptional customer service focus, typically obtained through: Minimum of five years’ experience adjudicating both commercial general liability and workers’ compensation claims in AL, CO, FL, GA, NC, NJ, NY, & SC. Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university required; or two or more insurance designations or four additional years of related experience adjudicating workers’ compensation claims may substitute. Must be licensed in AL, FL, GA, NC, NY, KY, and SC or able to obtain within 120 days. Good business acumen: understands insurance company operations and impact on profitability. Excellent communication skills and ability to build lasting relationships. Regular exercise of discretion and independent judgment on significant matters. Strong claim negotiation skills and proactive, pragmatic approach. Execution focus: consistent delivery of expected results through adversity, solution orientation, and global mindset.
