About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: Medical Surgical - Neuro Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours Experience: Minimum of 2 years in a similar role License: Active state RN license required Certifications: BLS-AHA, NIHSS required; ACLS-AHA preferred Must-Have: Must be able to pass EKG testing before the start date. Must have 2 years current experience in a busy Neuro Med/Surg unit. Description: This is a busy Neuro Med/Surg unit specializing in various neurological conditions. Patients may include individuals with CVA/TIA, seizures, encephalopathy, and weakness. The nurse will be responsible for pre- and post-operative care for neurosurgery patients. The nurse will also manage patients with spinal cord injuries and traumatic brain injuries. The nurse must be capable of interpreting and managing dysrhythmias. A typical patient ratio will be approximately 1:6-7. Floating to other units may be required as per operational needs. Collaboration with interdisciplinary teams such as physical therapy, respiratory services, and social services will be expected. Experience with electronic medical records is preferred. Weekend coverage is required, with every other weekend or two weekends per month. Travelers requesting time off during holidays or holiday weeks will not be accommodated. Local candidates must meet residency requirements of greater than 75 miles from the facility. Travel experience is required. No major holiday requests will be considered within 14 days of the start date. All certifications must be valid and not expire within 45 days of the start date.
