Position Title: Director of Youth Ministries Position Type: Full Time Description: Dear Friend, Thank you for taking the time to learn more about the opportunity to serve at FaithPoint Lutheran Church. FaithPoint is a growing church in New Prague, Minnesota, with around 400 people gathering each Sunday for worship. We are passionate about helping people of all ages know Jesus, grow in their faith, and live as His disciples. One of the greatest joys of our church is seeing the next generation encounter Christ. As I have prayed about this search,I'vebeen asking God to bring us someone who loves Jesus deeply, genuinely enjoys being around students, and has a passion for helping young people become lifelong disciples of Christ.We'relooking for someone who sees youth ministry as more than planning events or running programs. We hope to find someone who views this ministry as a calling—someone who feels deeply led to invest in students, partner with parents, develop leaders, and build relationships that point young people to Jesus for years to come. One of the things that makes this position especially exciting is the opportunity that already exists. Our middle school ministry is thriving, withnearly 90students involved in grades 6–8, many of whom come from families outside our congregation. We see this as a tremendous opportunity not only to disciple students during their confirmation years but also to help them continue growing into an active, vibrant high school faith that carries them through graduation and into adulthood. We have a solid foundation, an incredibly supportive church family, and a staff that genuinely enjoys serving together. OurVision is to offer a dynamic, Christ-centered ministry that calls young peopleand familiesinto a living vibrant relationshipwith Jesus Christand guides them intobecomingmature disciples. Mission: The Director of Youth Ministries will have general oversight of youthand education ministriesso thatyoung peoplemight mature and grow as disciples of Jesus Christ. Elements ofcarrying outthis mission includethe following:recruiting and educating leaders, education,working with the Pastor on confirmation education,retreats, Bible Studies, discipleship,missiontrips, service events, camp,fellowshipand otheroutreach. Personal Life Have a visible and living relationship with Jesus Christ. Practice self-feeding on the Word,prayer,and other spiritual disciplines. Be fun, flexible, highlyrelational,and emotionally resilient. Practicea high levelofintegrity and trust. Passion for reaching young people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. Relationships & Responsibilities Havegood communicationskills with youth and adults. Prepare for andhold weekly gatheringswith 9-12 gradersthat include fun, biblicalteachingand small groups so students grow in their faith. Recruit, lead, equip and oversee a Senior High Youth Team. Lead other events, retreats,serviceprojects,missiontrips,camps & retreats for both High School and Middle School, involvingyouthinservices,etc. to help matureyoung peoplein their faith. While about40% oftime would be devoted to grades 9-12andabout40% oftimethe Director of Youth Ministries leads Confirmation (Grades 6-8) along with PastorWesand the Confirmation Coordinator.This includes: Weekly Confirmation meetings during the school year Plan theConfirmationRetreat& Summer Stretchfor Middle Schoolers andhelpdirect families to Christian Summer Camp opportunities. Partner with the Director of Adult and Family MinistriesforHigh SchoolGraduation, aFaith Stepping-Stone class. Help with other churchwide functions such as VBS,Additional FaithStepping Stones(7 a year), etc...as requested. Utilizetechnology, social media,etc...to do ministry. Be at Sunday services andinvolvedwhere appropriate Remain current on youth ministry topics and resources and related issues. Promote growth, spiritual maturity, and youth participation atFaithPoint. Work in a low control, highly accountable relationship to the Senior Pastor. Be highly self-motivated and able to hold flexible hours. Qualifications Abachelor'sdegree. A degreein Youth Ministry, Christian Education or Pastoral Ministryis preferred,but notrequired. A demonstrated level of maturity, leadership, organizationalskills,and a desire to be a team player who works well with other staff and leaders. Demonstratethe abilitytoinitiateand complete goals and ministry projects. Capableand creativecomputer,technologyand social mediaskills. Able to be a resource and role model forFaithPoint’syouthand/or parents Commit to the Vision and Mission ofFaithPointLutheran Church. Music/worship ability is notrequiredbut a plus! Thisis a full-timeposition andreportsto the Senior Pastor. Pay iscommensuratewith qualifications andexperience.
