Depuy Synthes Product Development Engineer

Johnson & Johnson

DePuy Synthes seeks a co-op student to develop customized orthopedic medical devices in the Surgeon Response Group. The role encompasses the full engineering lifecycle from conceptual design through prototype development and product release, with direct engagement with surgeons and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

Design and develop multiple medical devices with supporting documentation and regulatory requirements
Independently own individual instrument design projects targeting 8+ new instrument releases
Learn and utilize Creo parametric CAD to produce 3D models and engineering drawings
Participate in full design process including risk mitigation, design specifications, and design history file development
Collaborate with sales, surgeons, R&D engineers, manufacturing, and quality teams across trauma and CMF procedures

Requirements

Enrolled in accredited university pursuing Mechanical or Biomedical Engineering degree
Minimum 3.0 GPA
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, Word, and Excel
Strong experience with CAD software such as Pro-E, Creo, or Solidworks
Ability to work independently and collaboratively on multiple concurrent projects
Permanent U.S. work authorization; no visa sponsorship available
Demonstrated leadership and strong organizational skills preferred
