Job no: 559297 Work type: Staff Location: Fullerton Categories: Unit 2 - CSUEU - Health Care Support, Administrative, Probationary, Full Time Position Overview Job Title: Clinical Lab Scientist II Classification: Clinical Lab Scientist II Salary Range: (Hiring range depending on qualifications, not anticipated to exceed $6,381 - $9,296 per month) Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM; occasional early morning, evening and/or weekend hours. Duties and Responsibilities Under the supervision of the Lab Director, the Clinical Lab Scientist II provides leadership and accountability for the technical administration and daily functioning of the laboratory at the Student Health Center. The role includes performing wide, complex, advanced, and standard clinical laboratory tests to assist medical providers in the diagnosis and treatment of patients; reviewing all documentation pertaining to clinical laboratory operations; leading staff members and directing work schedules; performing quality control procedures and documenting them in logbooks; monitoring inventory of supplies; approving purchase orders and invoices; preparing for lab inspection and accreditation visits; completing special projects as assigned; attending department lead meetings; and troubleshooting problems between EMR, LIS, and reference lab interfaces. Essential Qualifications Minimum of two years’ experience in an accredited laboratory with knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of clinical laboratory science, including the use and care of laboratory equipment and systems; thorough knowledge of clinical quality control procedures and standards, laboratory disciplines, tests and procedures (chemical, physical, microscopic, microbiological, bacteriologic, serological, hematological, immunological, and other related disciplines); knowledge of automated computer systems used in clinical laboratory settings; and knowledge of federal and state regulations pertaining to clinical laboratories. Must possess a bachelor’s degree in clinical laboratory science or an equivalent accredited post‑secondary education, training, and experience as defined by the California Division of Laboratory Science. A background check (including a criminal records check) must be completed satisfactorily and is required for employment. License / Certifications Possess and maintain a valid California Clinical Laboratory Scientist license.
