868107 - CUSTOMER SERVICE SPECIALIST - 40045033 Requisition No: 868107 Agency: Commerce Job Type: Full Time / Career Service Location: Fort Pierce, FL (relocation benefits are not available for this position) Salary: $43,308.00 annually Your Specific Responsibilities Conduct outreach and assessment services to Migrant and Seasonal Farm Workers (MSFW) in their living, working, and congregating areas. Determine employment needs through interviews and discuss services available through the One Stop Career Centers. Provide information and assistance consistent with their needs related to benefits, training, labor market information, and supportive services. Distribute concise written documents informing workers of their rights under state and federal statutes and regulations. Advise MSFWs of the Worker Complaint System. May assist in conducting prevailing wage surveys. Interview applicants and refer to available job openings and other support services as appropriate. Assist other professional staff in identifying and extending services to MSFWs in need of job referral, intensive counseling, guidance, or other specialist services. Conduct job development for MSFW applicants. Act as liaison between MSFW customers and One Stop Career Center management regarding services, complaints, and requested information. Serve as liaison between the One Stop Career Center and agencies or organizations that represent and/or assist MSFW customers. Collaborate with the Farmworker Career Development Program to share resources and provide workforce services in a coordinated, seamless, and customer‑friendly manner. Coordinate One Stop Career Center services with these agencies and organizations. Record information, maintain records, and prepare reports related to MSFW activity. Perform other related duties as required in a seamless service delivery area including branch office, itinerant location, or out‑stationed sites. Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Must have a background in MSFW service or speak the predominant language of the local MSFW workforce (e.g., Spanish) and/or be racially or ethnically representative of the MSFWs in the service area. Knowledge of principles and techniques of effective customer service. Knowledge of basic principles of counseling and case management. Working knowledge/experience using Microsoft applications. Skilled in group presentations or workshop instruction and/or facilitation. Ability to promote and market Career Center services. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively in individual and group settings, both verbally and in writing. Ability to work effectively as part of a team. Ability to utilize problem‑solving techniques. Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous, and effective manner. Ability to conduct effective interviews. Ability to listen effectively. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to work independently by planning, organizing, and coordinating work assignments. Qualifications As a condition of pre‑employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records. Minimum Requirements Must become certified as a Workforce Development Professional (Tier 1) within one (1) year of appointment. Required to travel within the LWDA and furnish own transportation. Preferred Qualifications High School Diploma. 3‑5 years prior Social Service‑Customer Service experience. May be required to travel to other locations for meetings. Bilingual with ability to speak, read, and write fluently in English and Spanish. ADA Requirements Physical demands include standing, walking, sitting, using hands, talking, hearing, reaching with hands and arms, balancing, stooping, kneeling. Employees must frequently lift up to 10 pounds and occasionally up to 35 pounds. Vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Environmental Factors Fast‑paced office environment with high public contact, extensive phone and computer usage. Use of standard office equipment (phones, computers, photocopiers, filing cabinets, fax machines). Occasional exposure to weather conditions. Travel Requirements Travel requirements of less than 25%. Travel to multiple worksites and occasional out‑of‑town travel for training. Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver’s license, auto insurance and be insurable under the CSRC policy.
