Title Bilingual Credit Risk Associate for Japanese Corporate Banking in Los Angeles, CA Location Los Angeles, United States Job Summary Portfolio management for designated customers. Responsible for the underwriting and portfolio management of Japanese Corporate loan portfolio clients. Focus on subsidiary lending, non‑investment grade clients, customers with large credit exposure, structured finance transactions, and complex corporate structures. Major Responsibilities Portfolio Management & Underwriting Perform due diligence and conduct regular credit reviews. Analyze credit risk, determine accurate ratings, and recommend timely ratings to management. Prepare detailed credit analysis and applications in accordance with Bank policies and procedures (Americas Credit Standards, Credit‑Related Procedures, Credit and JCB's operating manuals). Manage deadlines and workload according to the schedule. Serve as subject‑matter expert for specific industries and subsectors. Assess risk of standard bank products, including loans, standby letters of credit, trade finance, foreign exchange, derivatives, securitization, and lease. Interview senior borrower management to assess business and financial risks and challenges; maintain direct customer communication when required. Coordinate and communicate critical account information to related parties throughout the bank. Oversee covenants compliance, facility due dates, required condition reports, and call memos. Perform other risk‑related duties as needed. Deal Support Collaborate with business lines/product groups to identify prospective transactions. Lead moderate‑complexity deals for existing and new customers from the underwriting perspective with moderate supervision. Identify structural risks and recommend mitigants; enhance deal structuring and covenants in line with policies. Advise account officers on credit risk issues, terms, and conditions to craft profitable deals while minimizing credit cost. Consult with the manager and communicate with credit division/administration regarding rating rationale and facility structuring. Policy Compliance Ensure compliance with external regulatory requirements (JFSA, BOJ, FRB, OCC, FDIC). Ensure compliance with internal policy and procedures (Americas Credit Standards, Credit‑Related Procedures, Credit Rules, Procedures for Credit Ratings, JCB Operating Manual, and other applicable pronouncements). Team Support Support junior analysts on an OJT basis as assigned by the manager. Develop and improve analytical skills through communication with related divisions (Americas Credit Review, Credit Policy Office, etc.). Assist managers in training efforts. Maintain and monitor compliance reporting requirements. Qualifications Ability to multi‑task and work under high stress and time‑sensitive conditions. Strong time‑management skills; attentive to detail for accuracy and integrity. Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects. Proficiency in MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); knowledge of banking applications is a plus. Sound knowledge of finance, accounting, legal, and regulatory aspects of commercial banking products. Bachelor's degree in a related field (accounting, finance). MBA or CFA is a plus. 3–5 years of experience in large financial institutions, credit and risk functions, or related positions such as M&A in accounting firms or business analysis in consulting firms. Experience handling a segment of an industry vertical or a primarily investment‑grade commercial loan portfolio is preferred. Japanese language skills. Demonstrated innovative and strategic thinking. Salary and Benefits The typical base pay range for this role is between $90,000 and $129,000, depending on knowledge, skills, experience, and location. The role may also be eligible for discretionary performance‑based bonuses or incentive compensation.
