Purchasing Manager – Mechanical ConstructionA well-established mechanical contractor is seeking an experienced Purchasing Manager to lead procurement activities across commercial and industrial mechanical construction projects. This individual will work closely with estimating, project management, field operations, and vendors to ensure materials and equipment are purchased competitively and delivered in accordance with project schedules.Key ResponsibilitiesManage purchasing of HVAC equipment, plumbing materials, piping, valves, fittings, sheet metal, fixtures, and mechanical equipmentNegotiate pricing, terms, freight, and purchasing agreements with manufacturers, suppliers, and vendorsDevelop and maintain strong relationships with key mechanical industry vendorsCoordinate procurement and long-lead equipment with Project Managers and field teamsReview project specifications, equipment schedules, estimates, and buyout requirementsSolicit and evaluate vendor quotes to ensure competitive pricing and scope coverageTrack purchase orders, deliveries, backorders, and material availabilityIdentify opportunities for bulk purchasing, preferred-vendor agreements, and cost savingsMonitor material pricing and market conditions and communicate potential impacts to operationsDevelop purchasing procedures, vendor-performance metrics, and procurement controlsIdeal Background5+ years of purchasing/procurement experience, preferably within mechanical construction, HVAC, plumbing, piping, or commercial constructionStrong knowledge of mechanical equipment and construction materialsEstablished HVAC/plumbing supplier and manufacturer relationships is a major plusStrong negotiation, cost-analysis, and vendor-management skillsExperience working with PMs, estimators, and field operationsERP/purchasing software experience preferredExcellent organization and communication skillsFor additional information on this opportunity, please contact Jamie Tomczyk directly at View phone number on click.appcast.io.
