Cytogenetics Senior TechnologistHematologics is seeking an experienced and highly motivated Cytogenetics Senior Technologist to join our team, bringing strong expertise in cytogenetic and FISH analysis along with a passion for high-quality diagnostic services and patient care. In this role, you will contribute to daily laboratory operations including wet lab work, analysis, and report preparation, while collaborating closely with supervisors, directors, and team members to ensure efficient workflow and timely case progression. This position also plays a key role in training and mentoring junior staff, supporting quality and compliance initiatives (CLIA/CAP), and participating in validation projects and process improvements. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong technical proficiency, critical thinking, and leadership, with the ability to independently troubleshoot, handle complex oncology cases, and drive continuous improvement within a collaborative, fast-paced laboratory environment.Responsibilities including but not limited to:Participate in cytogenetics and/or FISH rotations: wet lab, analysis, drafting of client reports, and final review of client reports after director approvalRotation coverage as assigned by your Supervisor or director(s)Communication with Supervisor and section director(s) regarding daily workflow and case progression. Alert director(s) to critical findings, issues, or delays in analysisCommunicate with team members daily regarding workflow and section needsReview SOPs annually and follow SOPs to perform daily clinical workflowParticipation in section quality management activitiesParticipate in annual competency assessmentsParticipate in Proficiency Testing (CAP)Assist the laboratory in maintaining compliance with CLIA and CAP requirements with participation in onsite inspectionsWork rotating weekend days (Saturday and/or Sunday) as neededAdditional Qualifications:Minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree or a Bachelor of Arts degree that meets the ASCP requirements for a Cytogenetics certificationCurrent ASCP certification in CytogeneticsExperience in chromosome and/or FISH analysis; oncology experience preferredFamiliar with current ISCN utilization for Cytogenetics and/or FISHIn-depth understanding of Cytogenetic and/or FISH analytical processesExperience in troubleshooting and quality control (including CAP regulations)Works successfully in a team environmentStrong written & verbal communication skillsExcellent critical thinking skillsAbility to complete tasks successfully and efficiently, as delegated by Supervisor/DirectorPassion for providing high-quality and industry-leading diagnostic services as well as patient careDeeply committed to continuous learning and staying abreast of scientific advancesHematoLogics is proud to be an Equal Opportunity Employer.
