Bilingual Housing Advocate

Employment Information Schedule: Primarily Monday through Friday with a rotating Saturday once a month. Full Time/Non-Exempt: 36 hours a week $40,000 annually Position Summary The Bridge is seeking a Bilingual Housing Advocate who will assist program participants and families navigate from homelessness to permanent housing or transitional housing by providing trauma-informed case management, coaching, and supportive services. The Housing Advocate is responsible for assisting program participants in a housing program in obtaining goals, objectives and ensuring program meets grant outcomes. Responsibilities Provide case management, coaching and supportive services to program participants, including danger assessments, safety planning, needs assessments, mobile advocacy, transportation assistance, financial literacy, one-on-one meetings, realistic goal creation, monitoring progress, and follow-ups. Provide legal advocacy by accompanying participants to court, assisting with protective orders, educating participants about the judicial system and domestic/sexual violence laws, completing Crime Victims’ Compensation, Address Confidentiality, VINE, referrals to other social services, and ensuring participant safety. Engage local law enforcement to assist with legal advocacy and identify prospective participants who may benefit from legal advocacy due to domestic/sexual violence. Facilitate education and/or support groups, prepare and submit documentation of all services provided in compliance with grant objectives, and submit departmental documentation in a timely manner. Collaborate with participants to create realistic goals and yearly service plans, utilize in-house supportive services, provide weekly updates to supervisor, and attend departmental meetings, mandatory staff trainings, agency meetings, and multidisciplinary team collaboration. Provide crisis intervention services by answering a 24-hour hotline, 24-hour on-call rotation, on-site advocacy at local hospitals, and partnerships with law enforcement and community organizations to develop capacity-building opportunities. Required Skills & Qualifications High School Diploma/GED required. Working knowledge of MS Office suite, specifically MS Word and Excel. Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written. Own reliable transportation. Bilingual; English/Spanish. Preferred Skills & Qualifications Bachelor’s Degree in social sciences or related subject. Other Requirements Must pass criminal background investigation check. Must provide and maintain current TX Driver’s License. Must provide and maintain clean driving record and annually update driving record. Must provide and maintain current auto liability insurance.
