Senior Payroll SpecialistThe Senior Payroll Specialist is responsible for completing complex payroll processing activities, ensuring accurate and timely payroll for multi-state operations in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations. Reporting to the Manager of Payroll, this role serves as a subject matter expert (SME) within the payroll team for their designated divisions, independently handling inquiries and escalations, identifying and resolving discrepancies, while adhering to established policies and controls. The Senior Payroll Specialist collaborates with HR, finance, and operations to ensure data integrity and accuracy of payroll submissions.Essential Functions (Other Duties as Assigned)Process and review end-to-end payroll cycles, including regular, off-cycle, and bonus payrolls across multiple statesManage wage garnishments, including reviewing and interpreting orders, ensuring accurate and timely setup in the payroll system, monitoring deductions, and answering inquiriesPerform detailed payroll audits and reconciliations to identify and resolve discrepanciesEnsure compliance with all payroll laws, tax regulations, and company policiesServe as the primary point of contact for payroll inquiriesCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate team member data and timely payroll adjustments, including but not limited to exempt status changes, benefits corrections, and other adjustments that may ariseReconciling quarterly and annual tax reporting for designated divisionsOther duties as assignedEducation and ExperienceBachelor's degree in business, accounting or related field requiredCPP or FPC certification preferredMinimum of 5 years of payroll experience in a multi-state environmentStrong knowledge of payroll regulations, tax compliance, and wage/hour lawsExperience with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, UKG, etc.)Proficiency in Microsoft ExcelKnowledge, Skills, and AbilitiesIn-depth knowledge of payroll practices and compliance requirementsStrong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skillsAbility to manage deadlines and handle confidential information with discretionEffective communication and collaboration skillsAbility to support a high-performing payroll functionPhysical Requirements:Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computerAbility to lift up to 15 pounds occasionally (e.g., files, office supplies)Travel less than 10%This job description in no way states or implies that these are the only duties to be performed by the employee(s) in this position.
