Yard Worker

Description Remove all fluids, lubricants and components (e.g., converters) as required in a safe and efficient manner to prep vehicles for setting in the yard. Work primarily outdoors removing vehicle parts from salvage cars, including quarter panels, doors, lids, hoods, axles, and suspension pieces. Set vehicles in the yard as assigned and record information accurately and timely. Operate a forklift or loader to assist in moving vehicles from process to the yard. Clean out debris from vehicles before they go into the processing area. Pull out batteries to be tested for resale and bring charged batteries to the retail area. Work with Loader Operator to stage vehicles or pull vehicles in the yard properly. Walk the yard and place debris in the cars being removed from the yard. Dismantle tires. Maintain a safe and clean work environment. Ensure all EPA and OSHA regulations are met. Wear all required PPE. Comply with established company policies and procedures. Initiate and support the continual improvement of the company's quality improvement system. Assume other duties as assigned. Requirements High School graduate or G.E.D. equivalent. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities General knowledge and ability to perform relatively simple work. Ability to work in cooperation with others. Attention to detail and ensure accuracy in work assignments. Effective communication with others. Flexibility to work variable schedules, including weekends. Essential Physical Demands and Work Environment Must be constantly on feet except when operating machinery. No lifting restrictions and no fear of heights. Able to stand for long periods, sit, walk, push, pull, bend, climb and lift up to 75 lbs regularly. Able to climb ladders, stairs and tolerate heights of more than 15 feet. Exposed to moving mechanical parts while performing duties. Work outdoors in all weather conditions with no coverage. Tolerate high and low temperature levels.
