Guidance Counselor

Overview School Counselor — Location: Mevers School of Excellence; Position Type: Full-Time, Exempt; Reports To: Principal. Responsibilities Provide individual and group counseling to students. Assist students in developing academic and career plans. Implement programs that promote personal and social development. Collaborate with teachers and staff to address student needs. Coordinate with community agencies to provide additional support services. Maintain accurate and confidential student records. Participate in student assessment and intervention processes. Provide crisis intervention as needed. Educate students and staff on topics related to mental health and well-being. Any other duties as assigned. Qualifications Master's degree in School Counseling or related field. Valid South Carolina School Counselor Certification. Knowledge of counseling techniques and ethical standards. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse populations. Physical Requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate effectively; sit, stand, walk, and use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. The role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets, and instructional materials. Noise level is typically moderate, but can be higher during student-centered activities or events. Occasional local travel for school-related functions may be required. FLSA Classification This position is classified as Exempt under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) and is in accordance with applicable federal and South Carolina labor laws.
