Senior Director, Gilead Patient Solutions Public Affairs

Position Overview: Senior Director, Gilead Patient Solutions Public Affairs develops and executes an integrated communications and advocacy strategy across ~140 low- and lower-middle-income countries, serving as a trusted deputy to the Executive Director, Intercontinental Public Affairs. Key Responsibilities: Lead GPS public affairs strategy to support patient-centered access to innovation and advance public health priorities. Identify emerging themes across markets/functions/stakeholders; translate insights into coordinated strategies. Counsel senior leadership and provide communications guidance on complex internal/external matters. Align strategies across Public Affairs, Patient Advocacy, Government Affairs, Value & Access, Corporate Communications, Commercial, Medical, and others. Own external communications strategy; develop compliant, credible messaging and proactive storytelling. Prepare senior leaders for media, conferences, panels, NGO and stakeholder forums. Partner on global NGO/patient/advocacy engagement; build trusted relationships; co-create compliant education/capacity initiatives. Proactively manage issues/crisis/reputation; draft/review external statements and reactive communications. Drive internal communications/enterprise alignment with consistent toolkits, FAQs, and messaging. Define KPIs, build dashboards, govern cross-functionally, and manage budgets/agency performance. People leader accountabilities: Inclusion, Develop Talent, Empower Teams. Basic Qualifications: Bachelor’s + 14 years; or Master’s + 12 years; or PhD + 12 years relevant experience. Preferred Qualifications/Skills: In-house public affairs/corporate/external affairs in regulated healthcare/biotech. Deep experience in reputation, communications, stakeholder engagement, and issues management in matrixed environments. Strong writing/verbal skills; executive presence; ability to influence without authority. NGO/coalition/patient org engagement; global public health/access experience; strong compliance understanding. Travel ~30–40%.
