Managing Counsel - Employment Law

Summary The Managing Counsel – Employment Law will report to the General Counsel and serve as senior legal advisor on employment and benefits matters. This role provides day-to-day legal support to worldwide HR, supports retail, manufacturing and corporate partners, and manages employment-related investigations, disputes, and litigation. The position is based in the New York or Whippany corporate offices and requires strategic, independent legal judgment and strong communication with senior management. Responsibilities Serve as principal legal advisor to the worldwide human resources team and business partners on employment matters Advise on hiring, discipline, separations, leaves, accommodations, restrictive covenants, reductions in force, and wage and hour issues Draft and review employment-related policies, procedures and agreements Investigate employee claims and manage employment-related arbitration and litigation and proceedings before federal and state agencies Advise on compensation and benefits compliance and governance matters Manage and supervise outside counsel, oversee budgets, and supervise legal assistants Requirements J.D. from an accredited law school 5-8+ years of professional experience in a law firm or in-house legal department focusing on employment law Expertise in U.S. employment and benefits law; international employment law experience preferred Outstanding writing, drafting and communication skills and strong attention to detail Ability to deliver complex legal advice in a business-friendly manner and demonstrate credibility with senior management Experience managing outside counsel and handling a high volume of work with effective prioritization #J-18808-Ljbffr
