Education and Experience:
Minimum Education: MA/MS in Education; Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA); PA Teaching Certificate in Special Education


Minimum Experience: 5+ years of experience as a classroom teacher (Autistic Support preferred)


General Definition:
The Behavioral Systems Specialist will serve as the Student Services' lead designer of learning and behavior systems. In addition to direct implementation and staff coaching, the role includes responsibility for conceptual development, program design, and applied research. The Behavioral Systems Specialist will translate contemporary behavior-analytic theory into scalable instructional models, evaluate program effectiveness, and produce district-facing frameworks that enhance student outcomes and reduce long-term service intensity. The primary function of this position is to design, refine, and evaluate instructional and behavioral systems across programs using contemporary behavior-analytic theory and systems science.


Description of Duties:

• Consult with classroom teachers to determine appropriate intervention and crisis management strategies
• Coach classroom staff in the use of instructional models and data collection
• Observe students across educational environments to provide team input
• Train Student Services employees annually in the use of the WIU's designated crisis management/de-escalation program
• Write and present Functional Behavior Assessments (FBAs) and Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs) for designated students
• Collect and analyze student behavioral data
• Attend IEP, RR, and ER team meetings, providing written input as appropriate, to support educational teams in the development and provision of positive behavior supports
• Performs other duties as assigned by the Executive Director or designee

Travel Requirements:

• A minimal to moderate amount of travel is required for this position within Westmoreland County and throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania
• Must have reliable transportation
