Climbing Arborist

Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled and safety-focused Climbing Arborist to join our tree care team. The Climbing Arborist is responsible for performing tree pruning, removals, and general tree maintenance while working aloft using ropes, harnesses, and climbing equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience operating safely in trees, working as part of a crew, and maintaining high standards of workmanship and customer service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Climb trees using approved climbing techniques and equipment to perform pruning, trimming, and removals.
• Perform tree pruning in accordance with industry standards and customer specifications.
• Remove trees and limbs safely using rigging equipment and controlled lowering techniques.
• Operate chainsaws, pole saws, chippers, stump grinders, and other tree care equipment.
• Inspect trees for structural defects, disease, and hazards.
• Maintain and inspect climbing gear, ropes, harnesses, and safety equipment.
• Work closely with ground crew members to ensure safe and efficient operations.
• Follow all company safety policies and industry best practices.
• Maintain clean and organized job sites.
• Communicate professionally with customers and team members.

Qualifications

• Previous experience as a Climbing Arborist or Tree Climber preferred.
• Knowledge of tree pruning, removals, rigging, and climbing techniques.
• Ability to safely operate chainsaws and tree care equipment.
• Understanding of proper tree care practices and safety procedures.
• Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record preferred.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to climb and work at heights for extended periods.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 75 pounds.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work, including climbing, lifting, bending, and operating equipment.
• Ability to work in various weather conditions and uneven terrain.

Work Environment

• Outdoor work environment with exposure to weather conditions, noise, and moving equipment.
• Work may involve heights, heavy machinery, and hazardous conditions requiring strict adherence to safety standards.
