Reports To: Preconstruction Manager / Director of Preconstruction Status: Non-Exempt Job Overview A Mascot Holdings, LLC Estimator’s job is analyzing bid requirement documents, blueprints, schematic drawings and project plans to gain a thorough understanding of the projects available for bid. Creating estimates of probable labor, material, and equipment costs and timelines for the services proposed, and preparing cost analysis to present to managers and owners for approval to move forward with a project bid. Communicating additional needs and specifications to other members of the Estimating team to obtain all necessary information to submit estimates on time as specified. To communicate across departments within Mascot about all aspects of the proposed bids. To manage and co‑ordinate construction projects and prepare construction progress schedules. Estimator Duties and Responsibilities Establish and maintain tendering processes and advise on tendering procedures. Examine, and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards, and conduct negotiations. Set up cost monitoring and reporting systems and procedures. Prepare cost and expenditure statements and forecasts at regular intervals for the duration of a project. Prepare and maintain a directory of suppliers, contractors and subcontractors. Liaise, consult and communicate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors and subcontractors, and prepare economic feasibility studies on changes and adjustments to cost estimates. Determine what factors of production will influence the cost of a service or product. Develop and maintain relationships with company vendors and contractors. Manage bids from vendors and contractors. Use bid data to prepare detailed cost analysis. Compile and record actual costs. Present prepared estimates to management and other stakeholders. Ensure timeliness in submitting completed estimates. File estimate for QAQC approval. Conduct site walks. Perform in person takeoffs as needed. Provide estimates according to schedule. Participate in weekly meetings. Participate in assigned training. Additional Duties and Responsibilities Prepare estimates of probable costs of materials, labor and equipment, and subcontracts for construction projects based on contract bids, quotations, schematic drawings, and specifications. Advise on tendering procedures, examine, and analyze tenders, recommend tender awards, and conduct negotiations. Establish and maintain tendering processes. Manage and co‑ordinate construction projects and prepare construction progress schedules. Estimator Qualifications and Skills Strong math skills including algebra, geometry, and basic arithmetic. Ability to navigate specifications and plans. Proficiency in demonstrating proposals. Ability to handle multiple assignments at once. Knowledge of the latest building codes. Knowledge of PlanSwift or other takeoff software systems. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Education and Certification Requirements A bachelor’s degree in mathematics, architecture, or a similar field is required. At least 1 year of related experience is required.
