Forklift Operator

Forklift OperatorUnder minimal supervision, a Forklift Operator is responsible for safe and proper movement of palletized products to, within and out of their assigned department. This position also serves as back-up support performing the same function for other departments within the facility, as needed and when assigned.Primary Accountabilities:Deliver palletized products to the designated area using a forklift, in a timely and safe mannerLocate or relocate product within the department as directedUnload and load trucks when requiredBuild or re-stack pallet loads as neededUtilize the warehouse management system that manages product inventory within the facilityInspect forklift and related equipment daily and complete daily logManage forklift battery watering systemBack up forklift operators in other departments as assignedCommunicate with leads, supervisors, managers, and customersIdentify and/or troubleshoot issues with equipment or with product locationsEscalate issues that cannot be solved to the appropriate parties in accordance with guidelinesPerform other tasks as assignedAdditional Responsibilities:Performs other duties as assignedComplies with all policies and standardsRequired Qualifications:High School diploma (or its equivalent) requiredAt least 1 year of work experience in a warehouse or production job; or any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities needed to complete the responsibilities of this position requiredLegally authorized to work in the U.S.Ability to operate or learn to operate the following equipment: Order pickerSingle Reach and Double Reach Forklift Scan gun or gladiatorAble to push a cart or hand truck up to 100 yards; able to use a pallet jackAbility to work with heightsWorking knowledge of computers; ability to read in EnglishAble to follow standard operation and safety proceduresAble to work in an environment that is not climate controlledAble to work under time pressure and meet production goals; able to work more than 8 hours per day (over-time) as neededAble to assist with other operations within the warehouse, as neededAble to handle hazardous waste materials with appropriate safety measuresBilingual a plus (Spanish/English)Physical Demands The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an associate to successfully perform the major job responsibilities (essential functions) of this job.
